    Too long in bottles......

I think what he's trying to get at is this may become an issue if some one who's new to brewing gets ahold of this information and tries, fails and abondons brewing. I've modified my fair share of batches, usually it doesn't seem to turn out all that well. If you are inclined to play with...

    Pear wine?

after looking at the pictures, what I think are there is one Green Anjou without hardly a doubt, the other one is shaped sort of like a Bosc pear except it has a bit more of a "stem" to it and isn't brown but green. I'm not sure if that's just because they havn't turned brown or not yet though...

    Pear wine?

OK, my buddy's dad has a ton of trees with pears on em. I was looking at Jack Keller's page and he said there are different types of pears. What's the quickest and easiest way to ID pears. Besides this, anyone got any good tried and true pear recipes they use? I want sweet wine with lots of body.

    Hello from Carbondale Illinois

The place is definitely like a black hole IMO, once you go to the dale it tries to pull you back eternally. What do ya do at Southern?

    Hello from Carbondale Illinois

So, you live in the dale eh? I moved away from there 2-3 months ago. If you're looking for a god source of bottles pick the recycling bins due north of the arena and due east of the student center roughly. You'll find a good stash of beer and/or wine bottles quickly. Not that I'd do anything...

    My HLT project

I'll agree with you about the truck, but they look like they'd obey the 10 foot rule. Touch up any spots that were not thick with some silver paint to make em less noticeable. Besides that, at least you learned about em before you did something super expensive. That is some premo looking gear...

First homebrew you got trashed on?

This one's probaby already been started, but I think I've gotten trashed for the first time ever off my own HB. It's a blue berry wine, it doesn't have near enough aging to it IMO, is in need of a good bit more body and some back sweetening, but still it's drinkable and gotten the job done...

Testing the limits of my generosity

My personal vote, is a small amount of ex-lax in each of the bottles. find some tablets and powder them up, then put em in bottles. Put a mark on the bottles where you know where to check lest ye fall to them as well, and be sure to tell them NOT to drink it. Either that or spike it...

    First batch done, moving on

Well, bottled up my first batch of wine today, it was put into roughly 20 bottles. It was made using Red Star Montrachet yeast w/nutrient, some nutrient pectic enzyme, it started at roughly 1.095 and finished at about .990. Preliminarily I'm thinking it's going to be a good turn out. It...

Post a pic of you and your other hobbys

Hobbies hobbies hobbies, where to start. Probably my biggest hobby, my van. I wrench on it a lot, some times cause I awnt to a lot because I don't. Have a pretty warmed up TPI engine in the garage if I ever get around to putting it in, thinking/hoping it'll be 275-300hp. I've done...
