    Brau Supply

I would think the upgrade to the lid is nice, I don't like everything connected to it. Makes it difficult to take off and set aside. Also I have not experienced cavitation issues with the bag on 3 gallon batches. Only when I push the grain bill over 8 or 9 lbs do I have pump issues. Big...

    Brau Supply

I agree, my info isn't very useful without more precise measurements. Usually my 3 gallon batches without sparging are much more dialed in. Main takeaway is a 5ish gallon batch on the mini can work. Especially if you are willing to boost the gravity with a sugar or DME addition. I wouldn't...

    Brau Supply

I tried a 5 gallon IPA batch on the mini yesterday, it works ok. I steeped about 8.5 lbs of grain, main problem is when you pull that much grain out there is hardly any wort left. I set the basket and bag over the kettle and slowly poured hot water thru till it was just over 5 gallons...

    Brau Supply

I just bought the mini cause I usually do 3 gallon batches. Does anyone ever pull the grain out and sparge up to 5 gallons pre-boil? Just curious if I'd be able to do an occasional larger batch that way.

Well depending what system you get brau supply has a discount of 100 bucks off for black friday. Couldn't pass that up so went ahead and bought one

Looking for a single vessel electric brewing system

Unless I was able to build my own controller, which I'm not

Looking for a single vessel electric brewing system

Yeah I've been pricing out the individual components of a 120v system similar to brau supply, and it doesn't look like there's much of a savings

Looking for a single vessel electric brewing system

Does anyone have the high gravity biab 120v system? It has the boil coil and they claim it will do a 5 gallon batch. Curious if it will boil that much wort on a single 20amp circuit

Looking for a single vessel electric brewing system

I'm tired of brewing outside on propane. Time to get an electric all in 1 system, 5 gallon batches. Kettle w/ heater, controller, pump. I like the price point from brau supply, but it seems to be a small company and I can't find many reviews. Lots of reviews for grainfather, a few for high...

    Witbier stopped fermenting

So I assumed it's an issue with the wort

    Witbier stopped fermenting

Sorry for the confusion, but the fermenter was actively foaming/bubbling for 4 days. Beer has been in primary for 10 days. I guess I can try re-pitching, I've just never had an issue with so5 yeast.

Refractometer for OG, hydrometer for FG

    Witbier stopped fermenting

I pitched a full packet of so5, rehydrated but no starter. Should have been plenty, the wort was only 3.5 gallons or so. Fermented very well for 4 days. I'm thinking the issue is I ended up with a lot of unfermentable sugars, I'm just not sure how.

    Witbier stopped fermenting

I tried a belgian wit for the first time, recipie is 4 lb pale malt 4 lb flaked wheat 1 lb oats S-05 ale yeast ( I'm not a fan of banana and clove flavor ) Bitter orange and corriander Mashed biab method at 154 for 60 min, 60 min boil. Post boil gravity was 1.055. Fermented at 68 degrees...

    Star thistle honey

Anyone ever tried mead with this honey? I just bought 6lbs from a local store here in michigan, going to try a couple 1 gallon batches and see if it's any good for mead. It was a little pricey so I'm curious if it's worth the extra cost.
