California Older brass 2 tap perlick set up

Came out of a bar from a hotel I worked at. Brass perlick tower, 2 brass perlick taps (older style I know nothing about), brass perlick drip tray, perlick gas manifold, micromatic regulator (high side gauge has a warped face and should be replaced, otherwise works fine) all lines are there but...

    Better bottles?

I use a bb (with spigot and bottling attachment) as my bottling bucket. Works a treat! Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

When did you become a home brewer?

Brewed my first batch in high school science class. Don't even remember what it was (don't really remember a lot about high school!) but I remember it tasted like crap. The cider I made after was amazing. Not sure how or if the teacher got permission, but it was all supposed to be the focus of...

First time hearing of this. Growler exchange...

It's all about advertising and sanitation, not only that... But the law states that the label has to be from the brewery, so that means more time and $ and space to fulfill this requirement. Then you are also relying on Joe schmo's sanitation practices, or they have to take the time ($) to...

First time hearing of this. Growler exchange...

It hasn't been illegal in ca, at least in the last 5 or so years I've been getting growlers. It was illegal to fill a growler from another company... Most places I've gotten them from won't fill a competitors growler any way. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Water Pump Questions

Don't think that'll cut it. That's 80 gph at 1 foot of lift... I'd look in the 400+ gph range, and pay close attention to the water lift height. You probably don't want to run it at more than 50% of its max lift... Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Water Pump Questions

You could use a pond pump from Home Depot... Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

First time hearing of this. Growler exchange...

Someone mentioned it not being legal in Cali?!!? Not true... There's a bunch of micro brews in my area that do, including the bigger ones like Lagunitas and Russian River. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    I have the best SWMBO

Mine bought me a kick ass hot rod... I don't ask for gifts anymore. She won't brew with me, but is the first in line to try one when they are ready! If I ran out of propane I'd be walking, cause chances are she had brews with me. Luckily it's only 1/4 mile to get propane.... But after the first...

    Kettle fittings

I wouldn't use JB weld or anything like it unless it was an emergency. It'll work for now, but will eventually fail... When it fails it'll be in one little spot, and your gonna pay the price getting the **** that did stick off so you can make the repair. If the Teflon tape doesnt work, get the...

    Kettle fittings

Probably would have had to really crank on it to ruin the threads... Hand thread it in and try to wiggle it, if there is play (like you can feel it moving with in the threads) just use 5 wraps instead of 3. If the threads aren't usable, you should be able to tell visually (missing/broken or...

    Kettle fittings

Try using the yellow Teflon (marketed for gas fittings, same **** just thicker) leave the very first thread bare, and make sure your wrapping in the direction your threading. 3-5 wraps, make sure you don't back off after you tighten it... Hasn't failed me in 12 years of pipe fitting...

    Returning samples to fermenter?

Screw the samples... Let it ferment 3-4 weeks and so long as its not a high gravity brew, you should be good to bottle. I also drop my sanitized hydro right into the fermenter before I bottle just to get a fg for my records...

    My diy chiller

Correct 3/8 od, 1/4 id... My tap water is usually 60-62 so I'm sure that helps. I've read horror story's on here of groundwater temps. Texas comes to mind. I did gently stir for most of that time.

    Transferring High Pressure Hot Water

Coming from a plumber... I wouldn't soft line anything more than 5 ft. It's just askin for trouble, and way to many things could go wrong to risk doing it at that heat. 150 will burn like hell. I'd do copper. Sweat it to a threaded connection so if all else fails you can cut it all out...
