I drank the hydrometer test beer and it tasted OK to me. No OBVIOUS strange flavors but I'm certainly not an expert in what it should taste like. Hydrometer reading was supposed to be 1.012, this read between the 1.012 & 1.014 marks.

Is this a common thing to see? I've only done two other batches, both with Safeale 05, and neither had anything like this below the surface line.
