    bottle size?

I know... I know... but I don't expose my beer to light except when initially brewing and bottling. the rest of the time, it's in near pure darkness at the back of a closet I never really use.

    bottle size?

yeah, that's my worry about using these big bottles. they loose their carbonation very early after opening.

    bottle size?

as you can see here, I bottle in 1 Liter reusable plastic bottles. cause.. well.. when having "just two drinks each with a friend" amounts to the equivalent of a 2L jug per person? makes for some fun times. but I'm now wondering if there's a better bottle size? is there something smaller...

    my label!

it's fun. you gotta have an eye for design and a knack for using the software (or you can do it practically, which I imagine would be wicked.) but if you go for it, it can be pretty fun! also, yeah, I really couldn't find a fitting title for any of my beers so I just decided to number them.

making it taste better: the quest

hrmm. thanks guys! it would appear that the next step is to hop my own malt. I'm going to give that a try next time.

    my label!

oh man, I am a stickler for cold drinks. I could be sipping liquid nitrogen and I'd still pause and say "....it's a bit warm. could you put this in the freezer for a few minutes?"

    my label!

oh, I was aware of the typo. it was fixed before I went to print. and a friend of mine has successfully used the same bottles before and sealed them with, of all things, wax. and as for the frozen mugs? I just simply like my drinks to be as cold as possible. and I kind of want to have as...

    my label!

okay so my second brew is going to have a set of labels since it's shaping up to be miles better than my first brew (big surprise, huh?) and I figured I'd post it here. it gave me a chance to get my design nerd on pretty heavily. I'm bottling these into recycled rectangular Johnnie Walker...

no more vanilla ever! and SWMBO has no respect!

uhh... yes it does. the best beer I've ever had was a vanilla winter ale from granville island brewing.

making it taste better: the quest

okay.. so I'm two brews in and I'm now confident that I can make something that is recognizable as beer and isn't completely wretched to drink. my goal now is to see if I can get these drinks to taste better. any tips like getting better quality pre-hopped malt or hopping it myself? or if...

it's an Australian Dark Ale clone. it has a bit of a honey-porter taste. I like it. ...also your Brock Samson icon is killer.
