Welcome aboard man. I'm new to the game myself and have been enjoying every minute of it. I'm about to start my second batch soon. Good luck and drink up :mug:

    Temp controller?

Thanks guys! I understand the temp swing range and that it wouldn't be good for a closer tolerance fermentation chamber. I was going to run it on a kegerator. Also thanks for the link for that thermostat. I have looked everywhere and couldnt find it. I might just go that route because I can...

    Temp controller?

It also has a +-6F differential. I think I read where +-1f was ideal but would 6 be worse or better.

    Temp controller?

Was waltzing around work looking for a Christmas gift and happened upon this nifty device. It's an external temp controller made for a kerosene heater but why wouldn't it work for a fridge? All I should be able to do is hang it on the inside and run the cord through a grommet It's temp...

    My first brew!

Well it has been 13 days since brew day and I took my first gravity reading since them. OG was right at 1049.0. Now it is 1012.0. I tried a small sample and lemme tell you I was impressed! Had very distinguishable banana notes but not overpowering. I think it's gonna nice. Can't wait to bottle...

Installing a pipe into a cast iron down pipe

I still don't believe it's 5" but what do I know. Anyways if I were you and you are looking for a way to drain I wouldn't tap into the main drain. I would simply just run a 1 1/2" line outside and let it flow. I mean how much would you be using it anyways.

Installing a pipe into a cast iron down pipe

If its a drain then yeah he would have to do it a different way but I understood he wanted to supply it with water. But no most houses use 3" sometimes 4" if it needs the extra flow. In that case the hose clamp coupling would work as shown in a previous post. Those compression couplings are used...

Installing a pipe into a cast iron down pipe

If you have to cut your pipe the cut about a 3" section where you want to come down from. At ace where I work we have a fitting that has compression couplings on each end and tees down to a 1/2" FPT. These things are really easy to use just cut the pipe slide this thing on and tighten it down...

Installing a pipe into a cast iron down pipe

Is there any visible connectors in the piping that you can get to like couplings, elbows or tees? If so then I would go from there and it would be a lot easier than cutting your pipe but I might have another solution for you if you don't have access to anything like that. also is it 1/2" I'm...
