Must Visit Breweries in San Diego

Thanks for the great list Jerbrew! Optimal_pizza, we will be staying in Old Town but will Uber/Lyft all over. Like Jerbrew suggested we will probably break it into regions. And yes, I want to go to White Labs! Thanks!

Must Visit Breweries in San Diego

My birthday is coming up just after Christmas and awesome Girlfriend just told me she is taking me down to San Diego for 3 days to go on breweries. What do you think are the must visit small breweries in San Diego? Thanks for the advice and wish my liver some luck surviving this trip...

    eBrewSupply

I had a custom Panel made by ebrewsupply to control my new electric brewing system. Ryan was awesome! He didn’t try and upsell me but did give me good advice and suggestions on the customizations I wanted to make. Email and phone responses were great and prompt, the unit arrived on time...

    Tri Clover Integrated Heating Element

I like this product! If I hadn't just bought elements and my element fitting wasn't 2" TC I would probably buy it. Although I would probably find some sort of silicon boot to fit over it just so liquid from a boil over couldn't run down the side directly between the two sides of the socket...

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

    That plot is awesome!

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

Thanks BrunDog! Do you keep it at 1350W while trying to step up the Mash temp or just when you are holding the temperature steady? I was debating about this while making my system. It takes me very little power to keep the temp steady. During a step, are you controlling the temp of the...

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

I totally agree with you, especially with the modern highly modified malts with lots of diastatic power. To be honest, I was simply hoping someone using RIMS was just going to say that.

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

Thanks Wilserbrewer, that was my general feeling as well but had nothing to substantiate it with. It looks like I will have to run a few tests, bumping up the flow rate and then raise the temp of the RIMS PID with each successive batch until I notice an impact on the beer.

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

I must not be explaining myself very well. I totally understand what the RIMS and PID controllers are doing to control the mash temp, what I do not understand is how the temp in the RIMS tube affects the enzymes that convert the mash. I want to figure out how hot I can run the RIMS tube...

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

On my brew on Sunday the element was not on very much because the PID was tightly controlling them temp at the end of the RIMS tube to be only 2 degrees hotter then the desired Mash Tun temp. The element could easily heated the Mash Tun faster if I left it on 100%. However I was worried that...

    Raising Temperature with RIMS

I recently built a new electric brewing system with RIMS. One of the reasons for this is to do step mashing. On Sunday I did my first brew with it and the step mashing took way too long (18 min to get from 144 to 153). What I did: • Used a 240v 4500w Element in RIMS tube set to 240v (I...

    EBrewSupply Response Problems?

My experience was very positive when Ryan built me a custom at the beginning of this year, he did a great job!

    Colorado Brewing Systems Kettle

I also had a similar experience to Anmetcalf. No one sold a kettle that looked just right for what I wanted so I went looking around to people who would make a custom kettle for me. After talking with a several vendors and looking at online reviews I went with Colorado Brewing Systems...

240v or 120v for Rims Tube

I was using that 75% as the efficiency of the entire system and not just the element. From an element to a moving liquid that 90-95% is likely a better number (maybe even higher) but the choice of 75% had more to do with the other thermal losses in the entire system to the environment (eg...

240v or 120v for Rims Tube

I am trying to plan a new electric system and have seen a lot of people post that they are using 240v elements and running them as 120v in their rims tubes to make them extra ultra low watt density elements. However when I do the math, it seems like it would take forever to raise a step mash or...
