    Fml

blah. i know my words can't help, but put my name on the "when the pipeline runs out i'll send beer" list :-)

    Friday evening plans.

Tonight feels like a good night for a whole bunch of beer and online flash games... Part of me is saying, "you're too old for relaxing after a long work week like that" but the other part of me is telling that part to f*ck off. :-) Anyone else have similar (not so ambitious) aspirations for...

cornie keg cleaning ? - oxyclean ok?

so you guys pre-sanitize your kegs when you clean them? do you re-sanitize just before filling with fermented deliciousness?

cornie keg cleaning ? - oxyclean ok?

yeah, i'm going to be taking them apart and inspecting/lubing the o-rings and whatnot. beyond that, it's clean and then hook up the gas with the keg filled with clean water, to pressure test them while i wait for the first to-be-kegged batch to finish secondary. :-)

cornie keg cleaning ? - oxyclean ok?

i'm new to kegging (clearly) and just like the title says, i wanna sanity check that i can give my cornies a decent soak in oxyclean. i was figuring on filling them up with hot water and a scoop of the stuff, and then after 12 - 24 horus, empty and rinse, so they'll be good to go when i'm ready...

    Brown Ale recipe feedback

as an update to this, i have been drinking a couple bottles here and there, now that it's about 3 weeks in bottles. damn tasty. it ended up at 2.9%, and essentially tastes like weak newcastle. I think the only thing i might do is up the late boil hops a wee bit, to get a little more...

    chocolate addition question

yeah, that was what i was scared about with adding it at keg-time. it's gonna spend at least two weeks in secondary, regardless, so that might be the best way to go about it. i figured on boiling it up like it was priming sugar and racking onto it and the vanilla vodka mixture.

    chocolate addition question

ok, i brewed a nice thick stout a couple weeks ago, and i'm about ready to throw it in secondary with some chopped up vanilla beans that have been sitting in vodka for two weeks. i am looking to get a nice pronounced chocolate flavor with this one. The question i have is, should i add the...

    Serving beer through 1/4" hose

put a little lubrication on the barb, and heat the hose end in a pot of boiling water, it'll slide right on. I have to enlarge that same type of hose for hydroponics projects all the time. It's a pain, and you need to cut it off if you ever need to remove it, but it saves you from having to...

Just leave it in the primary for 3 weeks to a month

it would seem to me that one of the advantages of going to a secondary for a couple of weeks, even after a long primary, would be that it's essentially just forcing you to give your beer some more age before you hammer all of it down. :-) how many times have i read "i wish i had waited a little...

1st Annual Homebrewtalk.com Pay it Forward thread

if this is suitable kegerator hose, i'll snag one of the lengths. i'll be looking to build my first kegerator in a month or so, so as long as it'll work for that, i'll pay shipping. :-)

best way to add significant body to a stout?

alrighty, this is what i've settled on, in case any responders are curious 4lb Light DME (late boil at 30 minutes) 2lb pale 2-row 2lb flaked barley 1lb chocolate malt .25lb roasted barley mashing those for 45 minutes (60 better?) @ 155 in about 1.75g of water (about 1.25 quarts per pound of...
