    Punk Rock and Hardcore

Hello, Mrs Richard. Is Paul home?

Okay, I think this is bad...

I am extremely relieved you guys said that. I figured it was lost, so I changed the ice and put it back !! I racked a Weizenbock onto the cake from an Oktoberfest. Now that I think about it, I never made a wheat before...

Okay, I think this is bad...

I've been brewing for about 6 months or so, and have around 10 batches under my belt. Thought I was doing well enough to try racking a new brew on top of my yeast cake, since I have read of people doing it, and having good success. I am not quite ready to save and wash and reuse, (mostly...

    StarSan questions

    Wow.

    StarSan questions

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I've been thinking about this for a while now. I've been using One-Step, because that's what I started with, and that's what I know. I think it will be more cost-effective to go the StarSan route, if I can do it and save it somehow. Nothing kills me...

Pitched at 90, and.... Bang !!

It's a "5" gallon bucket, with the 5 gal mark about 2-3 inches below the top. I knew that the yeast would raise the temperature, but I had no idea it could be that much of a difference. Gotta work on patience. I think we're gonna need a bigger boat.

Pitched at 90, and.... Bang !!

After the brew, the temperature was dropping steadily for 30-40 minutes or so in an ice bath in the sink. I pitched at 90, and transferred to the rope-bucket-where-magical-things-happen, with more ice around it. I figured that by the time the little guys took hold, it would be much lower. The...

Pitched at 90, and.... Bang !!

I brewed an IPA Sunday night and pitched at 90. I know I should let it cool more, but I've done this before with good results and needed the space to bottle my Dutch Dark, so I went ahead. Last night, I came home to check on it and rotate my ice bottles out, and a little was coming out from...

    My 2nd attempt at bottling.

I am using Danstar Nottingham.- probably under 70 should be good, so under the house it goes !!!

    My 2nd attempt at bottling.

I have a couple of those Rubbermaid bins, but not enough to hold as many beers as I made last night. Here's the reason for my paranoia - I broke my hydrometer a couple weeks ago when brewing the Dutch Dark Lager that's in my other fermenter now, so I can't check the gravity. The brewstore is...

    My 2nd attempt at bottling.

After having troubles with my first bottling experience, I am hoping I did okay this time ( I took the advice of many of you here, and made my own bottling bucket ) The whole procedure last night took about 4 hours, and it worked okay, but without a perfect seal on the end of the auto-siphon...

    I suck at bottling

There, I've said it. My first bottling day was Sunday. Actually, I should have filmed it as a "You don't want to do it like this" tutorial. You guys would have loved it. I must have looked like a drunk Steve Irwin trying control this thing. I still don't really know how I got beer on the...

2.5 gal isn't nearly enough for me.

Did this twice. I've had enough.

2.5 gal isn't nearly enough for me.

Thanks again - Just got home from the local grocery store with a 5 gallon bucket !! It also came with about 3 pounds of butter cream icing spread around the bottom and sides - mmmm... butter... I assume (and I know I could find this if I trolled around long enough but I'm so friggin excited...
