Brew Bucket owners - What Mini Fridge are you using ?

Actually now that I look again, AIH says the mini brew buckets are 8.5in diameter at the base but 11in diameter at the top. In which case I'm thinking they probably won't fit, unless one can be placed on the base and another propped up on the hump, potentially staggering their heights enough to...

Brew Bucket owners - What Mini Fridge are you using ?

Thanks for the measurements @ba-brewer -- I've browsed around and seen some other folks' (partial) measurements that would suggest you're being conservative? Either way, sounds like two mini brew buckets will fit on that shelf just fine

    Tramontina 126 can beverage center

Were those ball lock kegs or pin lock kegs? In another thread some people were suggesting that two kegs wouldn't fit in the tramontina. How tall is the compressor hump?

Brew Bucket owners - What Mini Fridge are you using ?

Anyone know if you can fit two MINI brew buckets (3.5g) into one of these Tramontinas? I'm looking at this as a fermentation chamber for small batches in my apartment, to be hidden away in a bedroom closet. The mini brew buckets are listed as 9" diameter x 16" height

    Free kettle insulation idea

Alright another update in which I backtrack yet again. Brewed again yesterday and wasn't getting a good boil on my stove so I wrapped the insulation around again with the bungee cord. Came through fine this time. I realized now that what I thought was melted plastic last time was actually melted...

@IloveWorts yep it'll melt, it melted a bit to the pot even on my electric stove. I wouldn't recommend this idea! Going to leave the post as a record to NOT attempt this.

    Free kettle insulation idea

An update after trying out this bubble wrap insulation. I'd say it's a no-go and wouldn't recommend it, I ended up with plastic burned onto the kettle! it came off pretty easily but it's not worth the trouble. I'll probably stick with blankets for the mash and maybe buy some real reflectix if...

WiFi power sockets for brewery controllers

I've been thinking about using wemo outlets. They're $30 and 15amps (1800w). Here's a python library for interacting with them (could interface with craftbeerpi): https://github.com/pavoni/pywemo Haven't actually played with it at all myself though

@cubalz you're right, reflectix is cheaper than I thought when you don't buy a huge roll. This does make me feel a tad less guilty about the packaging waste of amazon fresh though

Edit: In conclusion, if you're at the intersection of people who order their groceries delivered but are still *too cheap to buy reflectix, this may be a good solution! (it won't let me edit and I can't live w/ the same)

    Free kettle insulation idea

I'm about to do my first BIAB batch and was looking for a cheap way to insulate my 5 gallon kettle. I know reflectix is popular but it's almost as much money as the kettle was in the first place. I'm an amazon fresh subscriber and when you order frozen food items they deliver it in a bubble...

    Picobrew Z

I'm one of the first 500 suckers too. As @FreddyBrewger said, they're doing a coupon thing. So you can also feel free to use coupon code M3SFW. The coupon code giver gets $100 off and you get $50 off. I'll owe you a beer (or a few)!

    Picobrew Z

Not a ton of information available to inform a purchase decision, but I went in for a Z1 on the basis of their return policy--fully refundable so long as you cancel before the unit ships. That should give me a few months to reflect on it. The Z2 is tempting given the small difference in price...
