    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

Yeah, freezer specs change all the time. Manufacturers tweak little things and change model numbers. It makes it really difficult to figure out which models are which after a couple of years. For what it's worth, I bought a 7.2 cu Danby Premiere and I can get 5 ball lock kegs in there with an...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

Did you look at the outside dimensions of the 24.9 cuft layout? It may be the same freezer with just a different name and you can then compare the inside dimensions. I noticed when I purchased a 7.1 cuft freezer that the actual inside dimensions were identical to the 7.2 cuft freezer from the...

    Better freezer brand?

Although, I still have one label to straighten out. :-)

    Better freezer brand?

All done. It looks great and I'm pretty confident that the air space I've left all around will be sufficient. It's also pretty far from the back wall too.

    Better freezer brand?

Almost done, just the lid to finish. :-)

    Better freezer brand?

There's already a vent off to the side. I was thinking of removing the grate and adding a fan. Leaving 8 inches all around is not doable, so I'll have to take my chances. If it can last for 8 years, I'll probably be too old by then to be lifting kegs in and out of the thing anyway. :) Keep in...

    Better freezer brand?

Just going to answer a few questions/concerns from various posters: The cladding is 1/4" thick at most and is installed so that it's away from the wall of the freezer. On this new build, I'm going to put it even further from the wall of the freezer; leaving a good 1/2" to 3/4" air space. The...

    Better freezer brand?

I was able to get my hands on a Danby Premiere 7.2 Freezer at Home Depot. They now come with a 5 year warranty, so I'm hoping they're built a bit better and will last a little longer. Bought it with a credit card which I think adds an additional 3 year warranty to it. So, I should be good for 8...

    Better freezer brand?

I bought a brand new Frigidaire 7.2 freezer in April of 2017 and converted it to a keezer by adding a 9 inch collar. I "mounted" the freezer on a pallet with casters so that I could move it around since there is a cabinet on the wall above it. I also cladded it with 1/4" reclaimed barn wood...

    Non-Alcoholic Beer Poll

I've often brewed ordinary bitters at 3% to 3.5%, that's about as low as I want to go.

No doubt. The only way to go when you're tight for space.

The silicone was just to "glue" the collar to the chest. The hinges were moved from the chest to the collar and the lid attached to the hinges. The collar itself is insulated. Here it is with 6 kegs almost all in. (The one sticking up eventually slid down to the bottom and leveled itself with...

10". Not only does it give you a bit more room to manipulate kegs and hoses inside, it brings the taps up to a more comfortable serving position. I installed a 110V computer type fan to the collar to keep air circulating inside. It gets a bit noisy, so I have it plugged into the controller so it...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

I recently bought what was advertised as a 5.1 cu ft chest freezer. After installing a collar, I am able to get 6 ball lock kegs in it. So you'll be fine to fit a (or several) plastic carboy(s) in it.

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

Looks a lot like the Frigidaire 7.2 I just bought. It holds 4 ball lock kegs on the floor and I test-fitted two more - one straddling the hump and the last one on the hump. Pretty sure getting 6 in there is not too much of an issue. The white plastic trim along the top is in the way but it's...
