    Bottling question

Thanks all. I did as recommended. Should be at about 70 deg. now and will let it sit for 2-3 weeks. Tast test makes me hate to wait. It's the Bell's Two-Hearted clone and it tastes excellent. A little sweet due to the bottling sugar, but that will soon be corrected!

    Bottling question

Hopefully the temp change doesn't add too much to the pressure in the bottle.

    Bottling question

I'm preparing to bottle. I typically keg, but I decided I want to bottle this batch. However, the directions for this particular batch led to a secondary temp of about 45 degrees. So my beer is awfully cold compared to what I have ever bottled in the past. I believe I will need to...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Thanks. I guess I'll add the hops after about a week, then leave in for 5 days.

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Is there a beersmith file ready to go for this clone?

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

In the original post, where it states: 0.50 oz Centennial [9.50 %] (Dry Hop 5 days) Hops - Does this mean add the dry hop bag after 5 days, or leave the hop bag in for 5 days? I understand that the dry hops should normally go in after the majority of the active fermentation is complete...

    just made a mistake

10 lbs grain. It's a hefeweizen. It hit the mash temp (154) perfectly which surprised me. Thanks for the advise. I'll let it go 80-90 minutes and stir it well. Will hope for the best. So far my other mistakes turned out fine. I think this whole process is amazingly forgiving...

    just made a mistake

Haven't brewed in several months and forgot my pitcher is 2 quarts, not 1. Instead of pouring 13 quarts into the mash tun, I poured in 26. Temperature isn't all that far off, but the problem is that the total water volume is supposed to be about 28 quarts, so now I have only about 2 quarts...

    Kettle with a bad weld

I just received a stainless steel kettle that I bought on Ebay. It was apparently purchased from Northern Brewers. It's a 30 quart with spout, false bottom and thermometer. The bottom of the kettle is welded to the cylindrical portion. The front of the kettle obviously took a hit at some...

    Hefeweizen process question

That might be a rather sweet wheat!

I've been to Downtown Produce and they had very little to offer. Is that one of them? Could you identify them? Thanks

Hi all, I brewed a few batches in North Carolina, then moved to Florida. I'm brewing extract kits for now. I wish we had a local shop. Just started kegging. and I now have an IPA and a Bavarian Wheat underway. I'm surprised this site doesn't have a for-sale section. Cheers, Dave

    full boil questions

I'm thinking about going all grain. What made you switch and are you happy you did?

Am I on the right track to good beer

If you are using an electric stove, try moving the kettle off the hot burner when you add the extract. Don't just turn off the heat. It's still so hot it will scorch the extract. Gas burners cool off pretty darn fast when you shut them off so it's not such a big deal. But you should stir...
