You know you're a home brewer when?

I, for some reason, don't care much for the "*****" bottles like Abita, Allagash, and Sierra Nevada. No real reasoning behind that though. Anything soaked in oxy-clean and warm water overnight will come off. Dogfish Head is plentiful here and undress easily but you're left with a shark-branded...

You know you're a home brewer when?

My man! I was thinking about putting together a collective list of the best bottles to use for bottling based on how good they were to drink and how easy it'd be to peel the labels off

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

I have 2-3 of those meslun bags that I used to hold pumpkins when making a pumpkin ale. I know that boiling them is fine for hop additions but would I soak them in iodine for a minute, rinse and then add hops to dry hop? Just to keep things clean?

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

Got 29 12oz bottles and 5 22oz bombers at the end. Lost so much to hops, I really need a bigger kettle to start with more wort. Tastes amazing though and finished at 1.009 from 1.068

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

Just out of precaution, I moved the beer to a secondary Carboy to clear it up and get it off of all the yeast and trub it sat on for a little over two weeks. Dropped from 1.068 to 1.009 and it tastes pretty ridiculous. Big citrus pine notes with bitter hints of grapefruit. Could use more umph...

    Philos'Hoppical Black IPA

Forgot one of it in the clean Carboy. Awesome color and big hoppy punch.

    Philos'Hoppical Black IPA

So I just transferred to secondary and added about .75oz of Citra pellets. Took a gravity reading and got 1.010! Holy shart...dropped from about 1.078 to 1.010.

    Philos'Hoppical Black IPA

Could have probably gotten away with one vial since it's pretty ferocious and has had a blow off for 2-3 days now. Any problems with over pitching? It was a 1.082 beer, I'm sure the amount of yeast beasts is fine

I have a 6.5 gallon Carboy, two 5 gallon carboys and three 5 gallon buckets- I'm alright for a while! I guess you can never have enough but I'm saving for a kegerator. I got 6 free corny kegs from my work that I'll have to clean up and reseal so that's next. And a 20 gallon kettle..or keggle.

    Brew Dog Tokyo

It's a hell of a beer. They're always ridiculously priced but I also recently had the imperial stout they aged in scotch barrels. $16 bottle and it was bottled in 2009..blew my mindload.

You know you're a home brewer when?

I heard about the hops being toxic to dogs but never cats, he doesn't eat them but just rolls around as if they were catnip leaves. And also plays hockey with them. You know you're a home brewer when all of your musician friends tell you they miss you and have switched from talking to you...

You know you're a home brewer when?

When SWMBO asks you to brew a porter and you tell her a coworker has commissioned an immediate batch of Aztec Porter as a Christmas gift and SWMBO threatens to call the cops about illegal distribution because she wants the beer instead. When SWMBO wants to snuggle in the morning and you're too...
