    Unusally high boil off

usually 3-4. More like 3 and I change the tank on the 4th. I use the burner to heat strike water, sparge water and boil. EDIT: These are also just exchange tanks, I think you get shorted a little doing it that way instead of having your own tank refilled.

    Unusally high boil off

It has to have something to do with my burner setup. There are 3 other guys in my neighborhood who brew, and I was discussing this issue a few weeks ago with one of them. He has the exact opposite problem, he is always having to extend his boils to boil off enough water.

    Unusally high boil off

I use pellet hops. My pot has a 15.5" opening, I figured if I cut an 8" hole in the lid, it would still allow for evaporation, just not as much. I don't want to sparge with too much water, so I will probably just add an extra gallon or two directly to my boil pot.

There we go, that makes sense. I just came off a 12 hour night shift with a long drive home. I knew there had to be some logic to it, but with my current mental capacity I was struggling to find it. Thanks

Electric brewery plans - need help

I guess what I'm really wondering is why not just use the PID to control the contactor?

Electric brewery plans - need help

I just wanted to jump in and say thank you for all the documenting you've done on this build. It looks amazing. I've read this entire thread twice today. I would definitely be interested in seeing a complete parts list. I only have about 20 or 30 brews under my belt with my current system, but I...

    Thanks to everyone here

While this is my first post, I've been lurking in the shadows reading for a while. With everything I've read and learned I decided to make the jump from extract to all grain after just two extract batches. Using some of the DIY posts as a blueprint I successfully made my own MLT using 10 gal...
