    Back in the Saddle

Guess what nailed 70% again. That was good to know my technique is still sound or at least predictable. Almost forgot to voulaf but remembered in the nick of time. No harm no foul. Now let's see if the 6 month past date Nottingham yeast takes off. I should place a order with Austin just in...

    Back in the Saddle

After a two year layoff from brewing not drinking beer. I'm going to brew today an IPA quick turnaround small 2.5 gal batch. Let's see if I still can nail my efficiency. I was able to nail 70% every time I know it's not high but it was consistent. Wish me luck.

    Best homebrew you ever had?!?

Unfortunately I have only my beer to sample, lots of homebrewers around just not getting out very much. wierd efficiency

I routinely get a 10 or so point increase from pre to post boil but I also have about a gallon of boil off on a three gallon batch and close to two gallons on a five gallon batch.

3 gallon stovetop batches = awesome

Being in Maine I also do 3 gallon batches on the stove top. Just too much snow on the deck. I do have to adjust the strike water temp to compensate for a 48qt cooler. Still playing with that tho.

Hood hops and if you remember the commercial from the 80's for Old Milwaukee Beer - Mt. Hood means summer skiing and Milwaukee means beer.......... Munich ESB was made with...

    Ok Ok Ok

I also was a bit worried about any anxiety that may arise with a new brew but the pilsner is bubbling along just fine in the basement. The IPA is tasting most excellent and I feel better than I have in a long time. Next will be another IPA this time with citra and chinook hops maybe a IIPA...
