The same questions day after day...

I know its irritating to have people ask the same question over and over, but replying with "use the search" is even more infuriating, because eventually the search returns nothing bit threads were the only responses are "use the search" posts and the actual answer is impossible to find.

    Cheap French Oak Barrels?

So, I see that a few people here say that once a barrel is used for a sour, its soured forever. I don't think thats true. The sour breweries actually sterilize their barrels between batches to make sure that they get a consistent flavor by controlling the populations. What you have to keep in...

What to put in an untoasted barrel?

I've come into possession of a 5.3 gallon un-toasted Hungarian oak barrel. I have a medium toast barrel that I've put a couple of brews through, but I'm not sure what to do with a raw barrel. I have a straight lambic, an oud bruin and a sour cherry stout in secondary right now, the later two...

what is the most "water conserving" method of cooling wort quickly?

The lady that owned my house before me was a little... off. The water supply to the house was a "gravity fed spring system." That is, in the woods behind the house, up a hill which situated it higher than the second floor of the house, was an open pool about 10'x10', unknown depth, partialy...

Dead mouse in carboy, would you use it?

So, today I was going to transfer my first sour beer into a carboy for a year+ aging. I grab a glass carboy from the basement, and see a little mold in the bottom. I assume its no biggie, must not have been fully dry last time I put it away. So I put a little vinegar in to loose the mold so I...

Anyone have an Imperial Stout Trooper recipe?

I'm trying to find a recipe for this, but its very hard considering the generally generic name. New England Brewing says its their only secret recipe, so no luck there. Google searches have proved fruitless, so I'm turning to HBT.

    Working mini fridge models?

If you scrolled down in the linked thread, you would have seen that the difference between the models is the door. The freezer is the same. Its just a piece of plastic that can be removed. I realize the thread is very long, but if you look about 50 page in, you will find a link to a blog post...
