HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Regarding the fan discussion: If I'm planning on using a simple CPU fan to circulate the air in the fridge, would I be able to have it pull double duty as a home made stir plate?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Haven't had much luck, so I'll probably just end up getting a Rasberry Pi instead, unless I want to get rid of all the dust on my ancient pc...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Looks like switching an old Xbox over to Linux is a pain in the rear, so I will probably end up using the old PC. I did find an old netbook that is just gathering dust in a closet, do you guys think that could be a good option for something like this?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Glad I found this thread! I just picked up a nice old fridge that I need to clean up and I have been trying to figure out how to control it. I have an old bare-bones PC and an Arduino board that I picked up last year to play around with (I might even have an old Xbox 360 with a broken drive...

    Medieval Burnt Mead!

Bottling Day! I decided that today was a good day to bottle. I had my mead sitting for 30 days in primary, then moved it to secondary two months ago. SG was 1.032 when I moved it to secondary and when I checked today it was still sitting at exactly 1.032. Still pretty sweet, but didn't...

    Medieval Burnt Mead!

Moved the mead to secondary today, sitting at 1.032 right now. Will probably let it sit there for two months and then bottle. It had a pretty good flavor, but still very sweet of course. I had a vanilla bean sitting in the primary and it picked up a very nice flavor from that. Sent from my...

Messed up my mash, question about the starter

Got to the brew shop on Tuesday and brewed my beer. Took the starter out of the fridge and decanted it then pitched it a few hours later. It was a strain that I don't use very frequently at all (I don't brew all that much to begin with) so I didn't try to split it and safe parts of it. It was...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I've been enjoying my batch, great tasting beer. I might try to go with straight lemonade next time to get more or a Radler feel, but it's damn good. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Medieval Burnt Mead!

Do you do a secondary and get it off the yeast before bottling?

Messed up my mash, question about the starter

Thanks for the info. Checked the mash and ended up with a pre-boil gravity of 1.008 instead of the 1.042 that I should have had. I guess that is what happens when you kill your enzymes at the verys start! Will try again next week.

Messed up my mash, question about the starter

So quick question: I ended up with crappy math and had my temperature too high for adding the mash in my BIAB setup. Ended up hitting 169 degrees as soon as the mash started, that's what I get for relying on technology and checking the wrong box on BeerSmith :smack: I initially was going...

    Medieval Burnt Mead!

Ended up making a 1 gallon batch today, just waiting on it to cool down so that I can pitch the yeast. Ended up cooking the honey for about 90 minutes and got it a pretty nice color: It's not burned, but about as close to it as I felt comfortable :p I might have gone a little bit heavy on...
