I prefer the beer to be a little bitter so i started with a pils. maybe a vienna lager as well next time.
I used Wyeast - Czech Pils 2278 (2 packs) but most probably I under pitched. fermentation started after 4 days :))) and super slowly finished the job. next time i will use a starter or dry...
tks Andy. i just brewed my first czech Pilsner :) hope to be a success. (not a big fan of the style to be onest)
most of the time i brew ales but with my new gear i needed to give a try to a lager.
It may sound ironic but I am waiting for the delivery of the fermentor+glycol chiller to arrive. I did not put my plan in place but I am sure that the minimum size freezer will work(i was planning to buy something as in the link below. You may also replace salt water with glycol and distilled...
or comes for free if you buy a conical. interesting to know if this offer is until the launch of glycol chiller.
it's strange to buy pro edition at 615 euro and not BASIC COOLING EDITION at the same price.
yes, 65 EUR is fine for "plug and play" system. how often you consider to add ice to the cooler box? and what is the temperature of the room? in my case I have approx 25-26C (77-79F) and I am afraid I will need to add ice more than 2 times a day.
in my case spending 1000 USD for cooling only one fermenter sounds like an uninspired investment for the moment. My plan is to use a mini freezer (50*50 cm (20 inches)) as cooling unit for salted water and to use submerged water pump to pump water into grainfather conical. hope it works. :)...
referring to the "COOLING PUMP KIT" just released, it's not clear for me if the Temperature Controller will control the start/stop of the pump or will be used in "manual mode". what do you think?
I think the easiest way is to use a receipt calculator and to adjust sugar addition. This way the OG will be adjusted considering all parts of your receipt.
I prefer http://www.brewersfriend.com/ because it’s free, online and has a modern interface. Also http://beersmith.com/ is a very...
i found something useful for you regarding your question:
" Sugar adjuncts are 100% fermentable, which means they boost wort strength (original gravity) without adding to the beer's body. The end effect is to create a drier, thinner beer than would result from using more malt in the grist...
Hi! I was adding 0,5 lbs of sugar cane into the boil and then for carb i used 1 sugar pill for small bottle (0,33 liters) and 2 for 0,5 liters bottle.
The carb. Is great! ( for my taste - medium high level)
Final feedback regarding my brew:
I had some problems with my brew just after pitching the yeast beacause the fermentation was not visible. after 4 days of no visible activity i aerate the wort to put the yeast in action even if the krausen was present- now i know that this was a mistake. at...
