    Did these seal correctly?

The first capper I had was one of the ones that come with the kits and I did the same thing. Broke bottles.

    Did these seal correctly?

I think it may be time for a new capper or some repair. It looks like they crimped on though. At this point all you can do is pop one open in a couple weeks and find out.

    Is this possible?

Many people add oxygen to the primary to help fermentation. I doubt it oxidized. How were your dryhops stored. Did you vacuum seal them? My guess is you threw some freezer burned hops in your brew.

    Looking to get into Brewing

the euipment I started with on my first batch was 3gal pot, a spoon, hop sacks, 5gal bucket with the lid for an airlock, and an air lock. I made a canadian beer from a kit at my LHBS. It wasnt the best beer I ever had but it was drinkable. I just had alot of fun doing it.

    Growing Obsession!

I agree with the start small for 2 reasons. One before you put you tax return into it make sure you like doing it. Two, if you start small say extract brewing you can start cheap you just need the basics a stove and a 2-3 gallon pot buckets blah blah blah, plus it sounds like your like me you...
