    Anyone else coming to life?

I tried Willamette and Tettnang for several seasons with absolutely no luck. You might be well served to try some different varieties next year. I didn't string lines this year until June 2 and this is what they looked like over the weekend.

    Anyone else coming to life?

I grow hops in socal too and have had the best luck with C-varieties and Nugget. Also, I have a lot of mature trees around my property so I've had better consistency year after year growing them in large containers (24" nursery boxes) rather than directly in the ground. The plants in the ground...

Adding hops to my garden, how's this trellis?

Looks good. I might suggest using two ropes on the taller T trellis so you can lower the bines to harvest. As you have it now, it looks like you have it set for the bines to grow up both sides but then you won't have the ability to lower them. It's nice to harvest hops with your feet on the ground.

    Growing hops in southern california

Here's a picture of Chinook taken the other day in North San Diego county. These aren't ready to harvest yet but the centennial and Cascade in the yard are just waiting on me.

The great search for German Tettnanger Rhizomes.

I have Tettnang growing in southern California. They don't do much in my hopyard.

    My backyard hop situation

I have three dogs and hops growing all over the yard. My dogs will nibble on hop leaves, especially growing tips [emoji51] but have no interest in cones. Even when harvesting and they drop on the ground, the dogs let them be. And these are labs that eat anything. No guarantee that another's...

    2016 SD Hop Garden

Kev211, it's a real tortoise, aka a solar-powered lawn mower! Shoot me a pm if you're in the SD area and need a Cascade rhizome-think I still have some in the fridge.

Mine have taken off in San Diego too. Already had to cut some back that were two feet tall. Some are that big again! Thinking I'll get some on lines earlier this year since they don't seem to like being completely cut back multiple times. I'll go out and take a picture.

Thaymond, recipe notes are pictured. Not a mild by everyone's standard. OG for six gallons was 1.055. Fermenting with WLP OO7. [emoji482]

Dropped the Centennial and Cascade lines today and fired up the dehydrators. The garage smells lovely.

    2016 SD Hop Garden

At another place around San Diego, a few Cascade plants under pine trees are not quite ready for harvest but getting close. Some Centennial came off the bines the other night. This year, at least, the Centennial have started grenading brown hops, when others aren't close to ripe yet. I picked...
