    Planning a Kolsch

I recently made a Kolsch which my Koln Germany sister-in-law thought was quite good so here is what I did. Use the German Kolsch yeast, do your boil and get the wort down to 60f and try to keep it closer to 60 than 70 for first two weeks (I had active fermentation from this yeast strand for...

    Holy fermentation! WOW!

Look out for the Kolsch yeast - it is beyond crazy! I think I counted about 5 bubbles per second from a 3/16" ID tube. It was nuts!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Got the second try at the Scotch Ale in - last time I didn't follow instructions and overhopped it. I called it my Scotch IPA #blegh

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Nice! I had Alt in Dusseldorf several years ago and it was amazing I'm hoping to replicate some of that. My recipe was a kit from Midwest - Excelsior Altbier. What did you use?

totally new to homebrewing - feeling overwhelmed

Absolutely - it really is a brilliant hobby that is fun, exercises your creative side, and produces an output that is unequaled at your local grocery store (no matter how long that beer aisle is). Once you home brew you never go back to bottles from your grocery store.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Have German Alt in the pot boiling away with a new setup that is so far just awesome. Bayou classic propane burner (more like space shuttle rocket boosters!) 32 quart pot with valve/thermometer to allow direct feed into fermenter 3 concrete blocks to raise it up for direct transfer after...

Undiscovered leak after kegging - will it affect my beer?

That was kind of what I was thinking - if it can sit in a secondary for weeks the Keg would only be better (unless of course there is a leak in the ball locks someplace so a very small amount of air would be getting in). I'll get a fresh CO2 tank, reconnect, and let 'er go to Super Bowl...

Undiscovered leak after kegging - will it affect my beer?

First time kegging (and first brew), everything setup and set PSI for 12 to let sit for a few weeks and condition. A couple days later I decide to just take a sip and hook up a picnic tap and pour a little. Beer very green as expected but gives me hope that it will be awesome. Here's my...

    Just Opened my first Homebrew!

Jumping on here I also just took my first draw from a recently kegged Irish Stout - it's very green (as I've learned from this forum to expect) but can't wait until Super Bowl when it'll be ready for primetime!
