Freezer over fridge glycol chiller build

Sweet, I'll def freeze the coil in a block then. I have most of the hardware and parts. When the ferm arrives I'll start posting picks of the build. Cheers!

Freezer over fridge glycol chiller build

Yup, that's the idea-have the ferm right next to the fridge. The FTSS I spoke of has a pump and temp control mounted to the lid. Naturally the in and out lines would run from that to the reservoir in the freezer. Update: I found a perfectly sized 10 gallon tub for the reservoir. Great idea...

Freezer over fridge glycol chiller build

A couple years ago I was fortunate enough to acquire a used fridge from a buddy which I rapidly converted to my first keggerator. I have an SS Brewtech 7 gallon chronical fermenter with the FTSS temp control on the way. What I am looking to do is run the coolant in and out lines into the freezer...

    Homebrew facepalms

Yup, there was nothing larger than a quarter left of the growler. Beer was pretty good though, based on the ones that survived. My first thought was over-carbonation, but it didn't seem so when I opened them.

    What are you drinking now?

My own Belgian Tripel...Slightly over on the ABV, it's legged and bottled, delicious none the less.

What I did for beer today

Got some great advice on HBT about glycerol and "how to" on using the freezer compartment of my kegerator to house a coolant tank for my "in the mail" 7 gallon chronical fermenter with FTSS, courtesy of SS Brewtech. I began the build for a custom tank to fit in the freezer to maximize the space...

    Sweet, thanks!

Chiller for SS Brew Bucket ordered!

That sounds like a plan. I am fairly unfamiliar with glycerol and its properties. I figured that running a tank out of the freezer portion of my kegerator (same plan as with the standard refrigeration unit I mentioned) would not work, as the water would freeze, and I don't know much about the...

Chiller for SS Brew Bucket ordered!

Can't wait to get my 7 gallon chronical and FTSS (when money permits) Do they even make a daisy chain kit? If not, I'm sure they will shortly, as demand is clearly through the roof as evidenced by how quickly they just sold out. This is an interesting topic question. Of course you can use a...

What single change most improved your beer?

    1. Research-books, HBT, magazines, etc (with a beer) 2. Shared experience (over a beer) 3. Sanitation...Sanitation...Sanitation... 4. Fermenting at the lower end of the suggested temp and controlling that temp completely, ie temperature gauge, etc. 5. Cold Crash at the end of fermentation...

    Homebrew facepalms

The young-buck brewer I was, I thought it would be a great fun time to bottle some of my batch in growlers. Well, little did I know this is a no-go. Massive, earth shattering explosions ensued. The best part you may ask? Oh, I'll tell you... I had them sitting in a cooler-that is until we needed...
