Best commercial beer bottles for homebrew

A little bit off topic, but with a butterfly capper and the standard crown caps from the LHBS, can you recap twist off bottles? I tried on a bottle I had on hand at school and it didn't work, but that was a Woodchuck twister. I just assumed the twist-off caps didn't work with the sized caps we...

Using a can of concentrate as priming sugar

Bitchin'. That's more or less what I thought, but I seemed to recall people on here talking about how it was a bad idea, so I thought it'd be good to ask the form at large before possibly making 50ish grenades. Sweet.

Using a can of concentrate as priming sugar

Has anyone done this? I did the math out on it, and for a 5 gallon batch where you'd use 5 oz priming sugar, you come out with something on the order of 150 grams of sugar in total. In a 12 oz can of Juicy Juice concentrate, there are something like 158-162, I can't quite remember. The numbers...

    Light Lemonade Mead

You can get 3lbs of Sue Bee at a bunch of grocery stores up here for around $12-$14, depending on the day. Also, at Sams Club I got a 5 lb jug of honey for around $13 a couple months ago. If you have access to one of those bargain stores, that might be a good bet.

    Bacardi Strawberry Daiquiri Melomel

Major drag. Oh well, a pretty sweet experiment to have tried, at least. Badass.

Bottling for carbed cider - when to bottle?

I'm glad to hear some positivity about this process. I fully intend to do it for my next batch, and all those folks saying it was a bad idea... well, maybe so, but its also the only way for we who aren't blessed with kegging apparatuses to get sweeter carbed drinks. Glad to hear it went well, if...

    Sparkling Sweet Cider

Plus they're great to use as carbonation testers. For newbies who don't invest in 5 gallon batches, such as myself, one gallon can be a lot more economical. If thats the case, its a damned shame to drink an entire bottle of cider just to test the carbonation, where you have so few in total, so...

    The great oak experiment

Woodchuck makes an Oak Aged variant of their normal cider. Its delicious! That could be used as your basis for comparison if you can find it. I've only ever gotten it as the "cider maker's choice" they give you when you buy a 12 pack. Still, if you can find it, its a good cider. Made me want to...

Is it possible to change course here?

Well... you could just throw in a bunch of apple juice concentrate cans, or maybe enough to, if you'd mixed them with your 2.5 gallons of water, reconstitute 2.5 gallons of juice instead, then throw some extra juice on top. It'll be awful high ABV though, and a lot of people say that white sugar...

    Bacardi Strawberry Daiquiri Melomel

Its been a while on this one, how'd it come out? That seems like a pretty cool experiment for using that cheap ingredient list. I'm intrigued and might be in for a gallon.

My first batch is finally in bottles!

Sounds awful tasty! did you try any at bottling? If not, that just seems crazy. I commend you your patience. Sounds like a nice recipe, all in all, a slight cyser.

    Creative Head Space Solutions

Dry ice results in CO2 that's safe to have in beverages of an alcoholic nature? Could dry ice be used as a carbonation method then, for folks who don't have a kegging apparatus and want sweeter and sparkling things?

My first batch is finally in bottles!

What type of mead is it?

How many gallons of Brandon O's Graff have been made?

949+7=956. I just started my first 5 gallon batch yesterday and have done two 1 gallon batches before. Can't wait for the official, 5 gallon one to be finished. Hot damn!

    Light Lemonade Mead

I made up a batch of this a while ago and it was starting to taste delicious, but I opened it up too much and let it get some oxidation, possibly some infection. I dumped the batch and have tonight made another one, which I am very much looking forward to. The taste on the first batch was very...
