About a week ago, I week to my LHBS. Bought a bunch of stuff and put it in my cabinet. This morning I opened up my cabinet just to verify I had everything to brew later today and realized that I accidentally left my hops (pellet) in the cabinet rather than the fridge.
Should I be okay to use...
I sampled my beer in primary and it tasted wter-y. Worried the hell out of me. As it turns out, apparently that's just part of the fermentation process.
I bottled my first brew on Saturday, cracked one open this morning to try it out and I love it. I know that it'll taste like a totally different beer in a few weeks, but right now it tastes very similar to a blue moon, which is what I was going for. On the back end, there's a slight almond-y...
TO go from my primary to my bottling bucket, what would you reccommend? I was just going to siphon it into my bottling bucket (with priming sugar solution already in it), however I've seen a couple of threads where people have talked about just dumping their primary into their bottling bucket...
I finished my first homebrew a few weeks ago. Rigged a blow off tube up to a 3-piece airlok that I cut the grate tip off of. I placed this into a sanitized milk jug that was 2/3 - 3/4 full of Star-San solution.
I put my bucket and my blow off in a (I thought unused) corner of my house. Now...
Today will be the two week mark since my first brew day. I'm only doing primary (For lack of currently having a secondary) but I'm thinking about pitching in some fruit later today.
My two choices, I think, are Grapefruit or a mixed berry thing.
For the grapefruit I would probably just...
Alright, cool. Thanks for the advice, guys. I opened my pale up yesterday, before receiving you guys' advice about not opening it. Took a photo. Will post that this evening, but I don't plan on opening it up again for the next couple of weeks.
I was told that the only way to get a good reading is to open it up every day and check my hydrometer. After the second time I opened it I started seriously worrying that I may have gotten an infection. It doesn't really look like one, but I am a hardcore worrier.
I finished my first brew two days ago! I've got it in the fermenter right now. Pretty excited. I really hope it turns out well.
Trying my hand at a witbier.

One beef roast, sized to your liking. You'll be trimming of the majority of the fat.
One jar (Don't know the oz size. Just to your liking) of pepperoncini peppers
One large Vidalia onion
Salt/pepper to taste
Trim the fat off of the side of the roast
Sear the roast in your cast iron pan...
Your job sounds a lot like mine. I had a super long meeting today that ate up half of my shift. Still feel like today is going by so slowly. Only an hour and 15 minutes left!
What sort of work do you guys and gals do? What other crafts do you pursue?
I work for one of the largest banks in the world. I also homebrew (obviously), garden, make soap, cook, and do woodworking.
I'm interested to hear from you guys.
