Alright, I think a few may remember me asking about adding apples to my beer and different ways to go about it. I've had my beer in primary for 7 days now and I decided to check in on it and see how it was doing. The Krausen has settled nicely, and I can see where the foam was which is always...
I'll have to look into the campden tablets next time. Second batch went through must smoother last night. Much more prepared. The fruit is still in the fermenter. So now my question is it should be alright to leave the apples in their until I move to secondary right?
Thanks for the post. Yeah, the book mentioned putting the fruit right when you take the wort off the boil, so it's still hot, and then let it steep for 10-20 minutes. I'm thinking I might go that route this time around. I appreciate your insight!
Alright, I'm working on an apple ale now. Now I've read the Joy of Home Brewing, and I've skimmed over the topics here. But I was wondering if someone could give me a few pros and cons of adding the fruit in primary versus secondary.
The book says that adding right after the boil serves to...
Alright, I had a chance to try out my little Brew. I followed a recipe for the most part but made a few additions.
3.3 lbs of extra light malt extract
2 lbs of rice syrup
There was a bag of crushed grain but it wasn't named in the pack
1.5 oz of hop pellets
I added 2 lbs of honey at...
Haha, ok. I know it's a learning process, but I still want my first real batch to turn out decent. I'm sure you're right though, it'll be fine. Thanks for all the pointers and advice.
Oooh, When I use whole fruit I'll be sure to do that. I reduced the raspberries and strained the pulp and seeds out of them and put that concentrate in with the beer.
I'm glad I decided to check up here before I posted a question. I just moved my cream ale to the brite tank so I could add raspberries and I was worried about wether I should see bubbles in the air lock or not. So that's a load off. Just one more week, and I'm onto bottleing. I'm excited!
Hah, I found the site looking for inspiration for a sign I was working on. So I saved the address so I could check up on during my lunch break. So it's not tooooo bad.
Yeah I was worried a little worried that if sommething goes wrong I wouldn't be able to really tell what. But I like to...
Stumbled on this site at work and it's been great browsing so far. Lots of useful Information!
I'm new to brewing. I've done one brew a while back that was less than good, but I was hooked. So I've gotten a new 2 stage fermentation set.
What I'd love to start off with is a honey...
