I am making Sam Adams Dopplebock. I have a 5 gal tun and almost 17 lbs of grain. I am only able to get 4 gallons of water into the tun. I know I need to end up with 6.5 gallons of whort.
What do I need to do?

duane I think you are right. it was described to me as a grass cutting beer, and that may be the way it is going to taste. After ales,porters and stouts it is just empty. This may just be the make up of my beer!

I used c-brite. I am very anal about my sanitation, very anal so I dont think it was anything to do with sanitation. It is a lemony taste one would get from biting into a seed from a lemon. Lemony with a little tart flavor on the back of the tounge. It tastes nothing like it smells.
