I just got my results back from Ward Labs for my tap water. From a brewing perspective, is there anything here that is an outlier that I should be concerned about?
Is this a balanced starting place? My city is supposed to have fairly neutral water but I lack the skills to confirm that from...
Actually the one on the left is definitely a bit darker. They both taste the same. I'm not sure why they're this dark though, because this is the grain bill:
75% briess pale ale malt
17% briess white wheat malt
7.5% flaked oats
Of course, I open 3 bottles pulled at random and they all look and taste exactly the same (yummy!)
I'm beginning to think I imagined the first pour...
I just did a factory reset on mine. This is *exactly* what I did (note I'm not doing ubidots here, talkin' more specifically about saving the config..)
Turned it on, blue light blinking once every second
Connected to iSpindel network, then clicked "configuration"
Set Wifi SSID and password...
This is mentioned in the iSpindel flashing video. He references this post earlier in this thread about the issue: iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer
Looks like others have seen the same issue but it's fixable
I appreciate everyone's input here!
Unfortunately I filled my 2 cases of bottles in essentially random order so I don't know which were which. Fermentation profile was:
6 days at 66
Ramp to 70f over 1 day
2 days at 70f
"Crash" to 42f over 1 day
Sit at 42f for 19h (I realize this isn't very...
I brewed a NEIPA a few weeks ago, and in order to reduce oxidation I did not use a bottling bucket. Instead, my process was:
* Lower the temp of the beer to ~42F
* Weigh out the exact amount of sugar needed (2.14g in this case) on my 20g milligram scale which, theoretically, is accurate to +/-...
One thing I've always struggled with when getting a hydrometer reading is foam riding up the sides of the test jar, or the stalk. Lately I've started wiping the tiniest amount of fermcap (squeeze the little bottle so a bead forms on the tip, then dab that) - this is enough to knock down any foam...
I just built up my iSpindels and have enough bits (PCB, components, PET tube) left over. If anyone's looking for a fast-track solution (rather than waiting 2.5mo for Aliexpress like I did), I'm happy to sell the kit.
I also have eight extra bare PCBs which I'd be happy to drop in an envelope...
