Switching between nitro and regular CO2 taps for a stout?

Hi all, Haven't posted in a while, but I usually find most of my answers in the archives. I did have a question about a dry stout I have made recently. I don't use it very often, but I do have a nitro beer gas setup and would normally use it with the stout. However, I plan on sharing several...

    Bucket v.s. conical v.s. unitank

Does anyone have any info on this conical? I was looking for a ss bucket and saw this. Close in price to the SSBT, but has the bottom ball valve and sturdier handles from what I can see.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks. I learned a lot by brewing this beer, regardless of how it turns out.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks for the help folks. Luckily I made a mild ale the same day which is already enjoyable. Cheers

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yeah, If I brewed this style again I would not add any bittering or boiled hops and only whirlpool and dry hop. I pulled the hops bag out after the 15 min boil and did not leave it in for the cool down. I'm thinking of adding gelatin to the keg and let that settle out some of the hops...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My wife talked me into brewing a NEIPA for the first time. 6-7 years of only brewing low abv and low IBU sessions ales, which is what I like. She usually drinks wine but is a bit of a hophead. So I make this NEIPA and recently sampled after kegging. Beyond the bitterness and grapefruit, it...

    10 days into brew

I'd leave it alone for 1-2 weeks. As you get closer to 2 weeks, take a FG reading once a day for 3 days. If your gravity stays the same then you're done (after 2-3 weeks a low gravity beer will probably be done). At that point, if your FG is below 1.020 then I wouldn't repitch, you probably...

    Anvil 7.5 gallon fermentation chamber

That is an exciting prospect. I can't figure out from the specs the inner dimensions of the storage area? Do you think a 6.5 gallon bucket with an airlock would fit? I'm also curious, does this thing recycle air in order to release the CO2 build-up?

    Witbier or just Wheat beer?

Wow, don't know how I missed that one. That looks perfect, thanks. I'll report back after using it.

    Witbier or just Wheat beer?

I haven't posted here in quite a while but I'm still brewing. Recently I have been working through a recipe in my head that would have the haziness of a wit but a more neutral yeast flavor. I am looking for a yeast to add to a 50/50 pilsner/wheat brew that will look like a wit/hefe but not...

    pH of soda?

Thanks folks. I was wondering about the starting pH of my water. It has been something I have neglected even in brewing. I have always understood that adjusting the pH of your mash helps to unlock more flavor in your beer. For soda, I was concerned that the carbonation, plus a...

    pH of soda?

So I have been carbing homemade seltzer at about 25-30psi in a corny keg that sits in my kegerator. It has been working pretty well for almost a year now. Lately we have found our seltzer to be a bit harsh on our stomachs. I know the carbonic acid produced will lower the pH but didn't know...

    Ordinary Bitter Boddington's Bitter

I needed a beer to throw on the nitro tap. Figured a Boddington's would be just right to start the summer. I would have followed the recipe to a tee if I had all the ingredients. But my twist, due to limitations were all Fuggles for all 3 additions. I also had 04 available and it's been...

    Carbing seltzer

Another question, Do you tend to use CO2 much faster when you leave it at 30 psi vs the usual 8-10 psi for beer serving pressure? I understand the setting is higher and thus more CO2 is used. What I mean is over the course of one week I have watched my regulator tank gauge drop 20 psi (5...

    Carbing seltzer

Thanks again. I'll leave it at 30 psi. This works great! I wish I could make beer this easy. Just ordered a 20 gallon Co2 tank.
