Ill definitely look into metal tubing. May be a bit more expensive. But you are right, better heat exchange. The sous vide was able to cook 4 frozen chicken breasts and maintained a constant temp. So it shouldn’t be an issue but I think I’ll test with some water before hand and find out.
I’ve recently wanted to start recirculating my wort. With everything I do, I always look for ways to keep the cost down. With that in mind I came up with an idea that would allow me to recirculate wort for cheap with supplies I already have. I’m curious if anyone has ever tried this.

Ok great. I was seriously considering getting a 5 gallon cooler. I’ll just heat the tun up more next time and keep the hot water in until I’m ready to mash. Thanks a lot for the advice!
I see that now, yes I have a 220V dryer outlet at home. Do you use a heating element to heat the water, then add grains into a bag or a malt pipe? How do you regulate temperature?
This may be a bit of a stupid question. But I am struggling a bit with mash tun temperature and have a feeling it may be the size of my mash tun. I bought a 10 gallon home depot cooler and converted it to a mash tun. However, im only doing 5 gallon batches at the moment. Which means my mash...
Ok jonnyrotten, I must know more! This set up would make my wife happy. I’ve had mixed results with brew in a bag before. Which is way I switched over to a mash tun. What’s all in your setup?
hello! I’m a fairly new brewer I’ve done about 10 batches now all grain and kegged the last two. I’ve got a pretty good all grain set up. However I just don’t have as much time as I’d like to set up all the equipment required and honestly I’m running out of space to keep a mash tun, extra...
Installed the clear beer draft system today. Made a huge difference! The beer is now clear. When I pulled out the dip tube, I noticed it wasn’t curved all. Maybe because it was straight it’s picking up all the sediment at the bottom and not having time to settle at all. Either way, I recommend...
I just double checked. The gas is on the correct post. I didn’t disturb the keg all. It’s been sitting in the same spot for a month now. I’m guessing there’s just a lot more sediment at the bottom than I expected. And I’m still sucking it up. I’ll report back when the clear keg comes in and see...
I don’t think it’s the entire beer at this point. I really think it’s just a bunch of muck at the bottom. Since the beer in the bottle settled out. I’m thinking the keg did too. I just have to take the beer from the top and not the bottom. At least I think. But what do I know?
So I force carbonated the beer because im impatient. The first pint I drank within a few hours of that and it was muddy obviously, I expected that. Now its been two months and about 12-15 pints taken from the keg. It looks no different from the first day I drank it. Maybe I just drink too...
Yea that’s what I figured. This is after about 12 12oz bottles. And it’s still muddy. What is the clear beer system you speak of?
Edit:: after a brief search. I found and ordered the clear keg system. What a great idea. Thanks!
