Ever have a credit card number stolen???

I got hit for just under $150 on my credit card, which is small potatoes compared to some. I rarely use my card and recently (jan 20) bought some supplies from Austin Homebrew. I caught the charges as soon as they posted due to this thread. Thanks guys! oh, the fraud was on feb 9th.

Question about my first home brew

did you mean 1/18? if it's been in the primary since November then you're okay. If it's only been seven days then I'd say leave it alone for another week or two. Primary fermentation may be over but the yeast still needs time to clean up.

Brewing beer in a small apartment

yes, it will work, especially if you do partial boils and then top off when you pour into the fermenter. I brew on a barely adequate electric stove and do 4-point-something gallon partial boils. If you want a more detailed response, you could list what's going in to your starter package...

    tasted first beer!?

that was the first beer I brewed. Needed to age two weeks before it tasted right. Took longer than that- another week or two- to taste good. Let it sit. It'll get better. Also, how familiar are you with ales? If you're new to homebrewed beer then it's possible that your off flavor is...

    Critique - Simple Porter Recipe

but then you can never go back. ;) seriously- I like black malt and have used it in multiple recipes. don't overdo it- it's easy to do. 4 to 8 oz. should be plenty for your recipe.

    Critique - Simple Porter Recipe

why go to secondary at all? it's a porter, so clarity isn't important and you're not dry hopping. I'd say leave it in primary for 3 or 4 weeks. Then bottle and leave it for at least 2, just like you're planning.

    Any Beer MDs Out There?

yes. as the body ages we can develop new allergies. Sometimes very abruptly. Ex: poison ivy didn't affect my dad until his mid 50s, when suddenly he got a huge case. and I am not a doctor. Just sayin...

    Pitched US-05 Over 80 F

I'm in central louisiana and do the same thing. I pitched at 88 degrees for my most recent brew and its my 6th batch. I suspect it will be just fine. The catch is that I cooled the wort down to 88, pitched, and then packed ice around the primary fermentor. I got the temp down to the mid...
