Update. Waited a few more days and cracked another beer. Skunk flavor is definitely disappearing and I now have a proper head on the beer. Looks like I just needed to wait it out. That batch was not exposed to any sunlight as far as I know.

Just cracked open my first home brew yesterday. It was a Cooper's IPA and although drinkable I found it to be under carbonated and had a slightly skunky flavor to it. Does that taste mellow out or disappear with age? I only let the bottles condition for about a week after...
This makes sense. I did get lazy and take the reading right from the bucket with a sanitized Hydrometer. Only reason was because I didn't have a proper Thief or Sampler which I now have. Anyways, I let that batch condition for a week and I cracked open my first brew yesterday. Tasted a bit...
I have to disagree with most of the people in this thread. I have had a love hate relationship with alcohol in general my whole life. Nothing good has come from drinking to excess (does it ever?) but I love the taste of beer and red wine. I always have and I don't think that will ever go...
Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you mean by calibrate. My Hydrometer just looks like a Thermometer that floats straight up and down. I didn't see anything on it that would allow me to change the readings it gives. It does read 1.000 in water.
