    Other hobbies besides brewing?

FISHING (mostly from a kayak), hunting, barbeque/smoking meats, wood working, cigars (interested has waned on this lately though.... it messes up your taste buds), gardening (sucks living in an apartment now though), and oh yeah homebrewing! I, too, collect lots of hobbies, so even though when...

    Hops Storage

I put mine left over after opening a pound package into 22oz bomber and used a wine saver stopper with suction pump and put that in the fridge. I check it every couple of days and it keeps the suction. Does that sound like a good storage plan?

Don't worry about the Irish Moss. It'll just be a little cloudier.

    ESB Critique

Thanks for the help. The LHBS was out of flaked barley anyway, so I'll definitely be leaving it out.;) This drops my OG by .004 per beer calculus. The recipe is more or less a cobbled together version of some simple ESB recipes I saw in different places. I saw flaked barley in several...

    ESB Critique

Removing Logos from fine beer glasswear

IMHO, if you are brewing, you should have some Starsan anyway. Give it a shot.

How someone *really* makes a pumpkin ale...

Interesting. It looks like it would be prone to infection though.

    pitching on cake

Good deal. Thanks. I have a mild ale with US-04 (1.034 OG), will be followed with ESB. (still figuring out which recipe to use.

    pitching on cake

I am wanting to pitch on an existing yeast cake. Is it really just as simple as: 1- rack off beer 2- pour on new beer ?

how long in a plastic primary?

Cool. Thanks guys. I'll stop worrying now. :) I would have already racked to secondary but I want to reuse the yeast cake.

how long in a plastic primary?

How long can it sit in an ale pail before you have to worry about oxidation?

    my first dunkelwizen

You want to keep light (or UV) off of your beer. It will skunk your hops.

    my first dunkelwizen

That's a cool looking carboy. Your beer might be a little stronger than planned for due to less water, but I wouldn't worry about. Just wrap a towel around that carboy to keep the UV out!
