    Bottle conditioning lagers

I know this thread is older, 2009 and 2012. An update on yeast for bottling since then would be CBC-1. LalBrew CBC-1™ has been specifically selected from the Lallemand Yeast Culture Collection for Cask and Bottle Conditioning applications due to its high resistance to alcohol and pressure...

    When to dry hop

Following. I made a cold ipa earlier this year after watching videos with Kevin Davey and others - one of the key points everybody said for that was dry hop at high krausen. I fermented in a keg, did closed transfers, and did everything they said. The beer was about one of the best ipas I...

    Show Us Your Label

Fun with Photoshop - Planning ahead for Christmas beers. Why would I want to make labels with candy canes, wreaths, and holly when I have Krampus and Yule Cat? I need to put abv on Krampus, not sure about that one yet.

    100% Munich?

From 2010. I was looking at this as well because I have a bunch of Munich malt. Its mostly used as a base for German lagers. I’m not sure how an APA with a high percentage of Munich would taste. German lagers don’t usually have much in the way of hops and in particular are not trying to hit...

    What are you drinking now?

There’s supposed to be a daquiri, a collins, and one other. The whisky sour is the only one I’ve seen. They have them at Walmart and other places. Surprisingly, its not terrible for a lazy way to make a drink. And something different.

Brewing Rut, how do you deal?

RO or if you don't have that and don't want to jump into that investment right away, get a few gallons of distilled water from the supermarket and try that. I blend my tap water with distilled water for quite a few beers, especially lagers when I want to bring minerals down. Water chemistry is...

Brewing Rut, how do you deal?

When you say your beer is lackluster or "meh" - what is it about the beer that is making that? What change would you like? Is it not malty enough, are the hops not coming through enough, etc? I think the first step has to be to identify what it is you want different. Do you possibly have a...

Brewing Rut, how do you deal?

We do this, but there's no wheel and nothing is random. We do it by vote. It's been great.

Help an old dog learn some of the new tricks

If you’re saying you want to do 7-10 gallon batches, your biggest concern with an all in one will be grain capacity. Pay attention to that and see if the system you want has enough capacity for what you want to do.. Also consider that a larger all in one probably needs a 220v outlet. There’s...
