    Plate chiller without pump

I think that's an AWESOME idea!! Think the mrs and I might try it.

1st ever batch. My OG is not even close. Any ideas??

You may want to invest in an oxygen aeration set up or just putting your cooled wort in the carboy and then shaking/rocking the hell out of it. If its a glass carboy just be careful you don't break it. As far as your OG goes I wouldn't worry about it. You came in over not under so that's a...

    Ruined Yeast Starter?

I'd use it. But i would get an extra pack of yeast just in case. Yeast are tougher than you think so truthfully I think your fine.

    good deal? help quick.

As long as its working I'd get it. You can always get a new tower or just drill another hole for another tap.

    Bourbon barrel storage questions

I don't have any experience with bourbon barrels, but if it were me I wouldn't fill it with ANYTHING except my beer. I agree the water and cambden tablets MIGHT leech out the flavor so why take the chance? Try posting on the wine forum since those guys probably have more barrel experience.

    Ball Lock Coupler Fittings

We use ball lock with barbed fittings, but if you want to switch back and forth just get the ones with the threaded fittings. I know Williams Brewing has a kit for that, but I'm sure you could figure out what you need by eye balling it.

    Brew pot suggestions

+1 on homebrewstuff.com. Got a 10 gal pot w/ball valve and thermometer for $197 shipped.

    Plate chiller without pump

+1. Only used my chiller for one batch but had no issues with wort flow thru the chiller. Put the brew kettle on the washing machine, bucket on the floor, with the chiller hanging off the laundry sink between the two.

    New chiller ROCKS!!

Cdelap, we put our hops in one of those nylon hop bags and it did a decent job of keeping the hop crap to a minimum. Granted some got out but our valve is mounted around an inch off the bottom and it seemed to work out well. We didn't flush it out til the next morning and were pleasantly...

    Problems with bayou burner

That sucks. I'd get a new regulator if it were me. There's no way you should be using a full tank for one batch. We're on our 4th or 5th batch of beer for one tank fill. Not trying to be a d*ck, but your propane tank was full when you started? That's the only other thing I can see that would be...

    New chiller ROCKS!!

It was probably our best purchase to date, we are definitely happy with the performance of it. And not having to screw around with that friggin immersion chiller is a definite plus.

    New chiller ROCKS!!

Brewed an English bitter last night in our new 10gal kettle from Homebrewstuff.com, chilled the wort down to 60*F with our new counterflow chiller from Dudadiesel.com. Water temp going in to chiller was 50*F, wort temp was 200*F. It was our first try with the chiller, so we racked it into a...

Can you blow into the hose to dislodge the stuff in the elbow? You just have a stuck sparge. It'll happen to anyone. All is not lost bub.

    Enough time for starter?

I think I'm good on the starter, its been going since noon yesterday. But to be that far under a 1.061 SG? Granted I'm not going to dump it, just venting my frustration. It's just funny how I was worried about my yeast, and that's the one thing about this batch that so far has gone right. It's...
