    full boil question?

I'm still newer to brewing, but from what I've read it is better to steep the grains in all 5 gallons if that is what size batch you are brewing. It's a bit harder to get the temp exactly where you want it to be, but the result will be better beer. Here's another post on the topic...

    Wort chiller question

Looks like I will just buy that from sears and follow the instructions the HBT posts. That price is tough to beat! I already have hoses and clamps so I'd be crazy not to just make it.

    Wort chiller question

I'll have to measure when I get home. I didn't even think of that. I will have to check the diameters of the wort chillers and see how far into the kettle the thermometer goes. Maybe I will have to just make one myself a put a small gap in it for the thermometer to go through. Thanks for your...

    Wort chiller question

I know most people on here recommend making them, but for lack of better things for my fiance to get me for Christmas, I'm asking for one so I can be lazy. I have a 10gallon Polarware kettle with thermometer. I'm just wondering if the thermometer probe inside the brewpot will get in the way and...

    Bottling questions

It really depends on the person. I bottled my first batch a few weeks ago. I cleaned my bottles in an oxyclean bath, then used starsan right before bottling. I had my SWMBO help me and it took me about 90 minutes to clean, autosiphon to bottling bucket, fill 40 bottles (used some 22 oz), and...

    bottle storage

I didn't think they would uncarb. I was just worried it would create off flavors. I know "skunking" only happens with extreme temp changes but I wasn't sure if anyone else could happen. I guess I'll just take some out and make room for my next batch. Thanks for your replies

    bottle storage

So is it ok to take them out now or will that just mess them up?

    bottle storage

I bottled a copper ale a couple weeks ago and have all the bottles in my fridge. It takes up the whole bottom shelf pretty much. I'm about to bottle a hefe and was wondering if that other beer isn't finished by the time I need to put the new brew in, can I take it out and store it around 60-65...

    Boston Microbrew Bachelor Party

Sam Adams will refer you to Doyle's where if you order a Sam Adams beer there you get to keep the glass. Doyle's isn't too bad and has been the set of a couple films apparently (you'll hear about it during the tasting) Besides that, I've heard Blue Hills Brewery does tours on Friday and...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Built this at work on Friday with the added lamps. Works great and it's such a relief to not have to plug in and unplug my thermawrap constantly. For anyone debating whether or not they want to try building this...I have little to no electrical experience and I was able to do it without...

    Any Good Orange/Citrus Recipes

I did the blood orange hefeweizen recipe posted above. I'm an extract brewer also (as of right now) so I purchased a honey hefe kit from northern brewer then just added in the blood oranges like the recipe called for. I just bottled so I have no feedback but the airlock smell was great and the...
