    Adding things to Extract

That is outstanding. And $15 for a kit? That would be amazing, too bad I don't have grocery stores that sell kits where I live.

Thank you very much. I will keep this mind and be posting what I do.

    Adding things to Extract

So Eric, add more hops if I add fruit or pecans, or any kind of nuts for that matter? What's the reason, just curious. And thank you for the tips. And I don't know if it was the pecans or something else that he added, I wasn't there for the brewing. But three of those beers knocked me on my but...

    Adding things to Extract

I am currently doing extract brewing. I've brewed about 15 recipe kits so far in the short time that I have been brewing. I would like to try some different things with some different beers. Like to add 1 pound of pecans to a brown ale 20 minutes before the end of a 60 minute boil. Or add...

    Cold Crashing

I'm a little confused about the gelatin thing. Are you all talking about the powder gelatin that you can get at walmart or is there something different for brewing? I know... Might be a stupid question. But I had to ask.

    Cold Crashing

That's what I've done one the last couple of brews and they turned out pretty darn good. I just bottled them and waited. What is the Gelatin? I don't understand that whole process.

    Cold Crashing

Quick question... What is this cold crashing that I keep hearing about? I am hearing about people doing it to beer when they post reviews on recipe kits and I am wondering if it is something that makes the beer better. Also wondering about how to do it. :mug:

    Holy Fermentation

Thanks a lot for all of the input. I really do appreciate it and that's why I'm on here, this is only my third batch, first time doing secondary. And the only reason that I used the bucket for secondary is that I was ill prepared. Didn't have a fermometer for my other PET bottle. Lesson learned...

    Holy Fermentation

Sorry that it took me so long, but here are some pictures. The gravity was 1.010 before I racked into secondary and dry hopped. Still new at this so any recommendations would be great, or constructive criticism:)

    Holy Fermentation

I will work on pics tonight when I get home and also try to setup the blowoff tube. By wife said that is fermenting more aggressively today(10NOV), than in the last few days. So pics to follow.

    Holy Fermentation

I have been fermenting an American Smash Session Ale for about five days. The first couple of days I was worried because I am using a new dry yeast. Now, it's fermenting so aggressively that I wished I would have gotten a blowoff hose assembly for the PET fermentor. Can't wait for this beer to...

    Finally Brewing

Hello everyone, my name is Kyle. I have been a member for a couple of months now, I know I know, why didn't I post earlier. I don't know. I am finally brewing beer after helping a friend a few times. I have brewed two batches so far, an Ale and a Hefeweizen. The Ale turned out amazing but the...
