First year potted plants doing well

Nice! I pass them a couple times a week and had been wondering what variety you had. Do you know when you are going to harvest? My hops are on their third year, but I'm still trying to figure out what week is best for harvesting in our area.

Growing Cascade bine in S Jersey is a hopless endeavor

I don't have specific tips beyond what has already been said. But don't give up! I have Cascade growing in central NJ and it is doing well, so it's not a lost endeavor.

    15amp vs 20amp for Foundry 240v Upgrade

Yes 120v does the job, certainly. That's why I haven't made the upgrade despite using it regularly for several years. That being said, I'm in the process of wiring the entire basement (not brewing related) and would be adding an outlet anyway, so I figured I might as well make the outlet 240v...

    15amp vs 20amp for Foundry 240v Upgrade

This is a dedicated brew area in my basement. My work shop (with tables saws etc.) is in the garage, so no I do not expect this outlet/circuit to ever be used by larger appliances. Although I'm guessing I won't be using this exact Foundry 30 years from now, I do not expect to ever upgrade to a...

    15amp vs 20amp for Foundry 240v Upgrade

After a couple years of use, I'm finally going to upgrade my Anvil Foundry to 240v. I will "cut the plug" on the Foundry and re-wire a new plug on it, as well as install a new, dedicated GFCI-protected 240v circuit. The manual says to use either a NEMA 6-15P or NEMA 6-20P plug. If I understand...

Are there any cyclist in the group?

Took a quick ride to my LHBS for a CO2 swap. I recently got the bike from my father, who probably hasn't ridden in a decade. He originally got it from a buddy who built it frame-up back in '91.

Alternatives to Worm Gear Hose Clamps?

Just to follow up: As a result of the feedback I received from everyone above, I ended up going with camlocks. I got @Bobby_M to weld male camlocks to the ends of my immersion chiller, and then got female camlocks for the silicone tubing. I just got it welded last week and have already brewed...

    Batch size

I brewed 5 gallon batches for a decade, but this year I scaled down to 2.5 gallon batches in order to brew more frequently.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Anyone know what the bulkhead thread type is, on the exterior half? Or, identically, what the thread type of the female end of the spigot is? I’m looking to replace my spigot with a non-anvil spigot, or maybe a camlock connector and then a spigot, but figure I’ll keep the existing bulkhead.

    Picnic Tap 2.1

Did you end up buying one and trying it with seltzer? I'm also curious about buying one for seltzer and/or hop water, at 25psi. Or does anyone else have experience with it for seltzer? I know it's a higher than recommended psi, but there's no concern about maintaining a proper head or anything...

    Compost bucket sour?

I'm pretty sure hops raise the pH.

    Favorite of experienced brewers.

Saisons (during summer) Russian Imperial Stouts (during winter) That being said, I also really like West Coast IPAs and American Pale Ales, but so far I prefer commercial examples to my own... Brewing experience: 10+ years

An appeal to Northeast U.S. Homebrewers

As I actually mentioned to Bobby in-store yesterday: My closest LHBS (<10min away) closed down during Covid. Saddened, I then switched to a less-local LHBS in Pennsylvania (~50min away), and grew to really like them. A few months ago, they switched owners and move even further away. I was sad to...

    Scaling aroma hops

I'd say it might vary based on what you mean by "aroma hops". If you mean hops added within the last 10 minutes of the boil, yes I might consider increasing the amount of hops based on a lower AA percentage. But if it's a cooled whirlpool or dry hop, I probably wouldn't care about the difference...
