    Calling it a "Krute"

It sounds like you might be a guy with some scrap wood around... To dress up the can you could get some planks and put them around like the staves of a barrel. To hold them in place you could use construction adhesive, or some flat iron bar stock, bent around and bolted in place. (bend the...

False bottom, manifold, s/s tube... What about s/s ball bearings?

This is exactly what my brother does. He has a 10 gallon round cooler and uses glass marbles. He scrounged up flexible, woven SS mesh some where and just lays it across the top. To clean it he just dumps the grain into the trash or whatever and when its about 1/2 of the way out (with the...

    I got a free tank...Fermenter??

You could always sell or scrap it an get exactly what you want. I would have a hard time with that though. A tank like that is pretty cool. Nice score.

Quick, can I use a vacuum cleaner motor for anything?

You could use it as a blower to burn biomass to heat your boil kettles or mash. By having forced air you can quite alot of heat out of things like wood chips and pine cones and other scraps.

    Beer Bike Build Questions

If your kegs from the brewery are going to be cold, that is alot of thermal mass. Just build a simple insulated box and throw a few bags of ice in. You would probably get negligable warming over a several hour period. For the bike: If you go the trailer route you will need to instal...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Its a standard thread. Just go the the hardware store, get a 1.5 inch hex head quarter/20 bolt. Then thread it into your mill, put a socket on your drill and watch the dust fly. Make sure that you have some bolt shaft stocking out. Then if you snap the bolt (unlikely with the torque...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

I too have Jumped on this train. This mill works awesome for my purposes. A decent crush, fast enough to enjoy a HB while I grind and it was fun to build. Perhaps the coolest thing about this mill is the intersection of family history and American history that led to it falling into my...

KPR, Right, that is what i meant to say. I have got to get my story straight. One thing I did not anticipate is the fact that a batch goes alot faster when its just as easy to get beer as it is to get water. Unfortunately, because of that fact, all I have to show you all is me pouring a...

I am getting the feeling no one does exactly what i am talking about... having a draft system with no refrigeration element at all. Is that because its not possible or because it is not preferable? I am still going to give it a shot. If it doesnt work out that well Ill just have to get a...

the cold glass should cool the beer which should make CO2 even more soluble in the liquid. You are right though, turbulence from the pour and ice on the glass would cause plenty of nucelation sites for bubble to form. Those are the exact beers i prefer. Im going by the LBS after work to...

Arneba, If a system is balanced at room temp why would the pour be more foamy than one balanced at a conventional temperature? In my head it seems like it should be the same...

Thanks for the responses. We do usually keep our fridge pretty full and its furnished by the land lords so i wouldnt want to cut the gasket or drill a hole in the side. I have not explored it for an external drain hole; if it has one i could probably enlarge that and go undetected. I am...
