    Beginner trouble/help!!

Thanks AC man - it was coopers English ale malt extract I used, coopers brew enhancer and a little dextrose. Yeah it tastes like a good ale. And about 5/5.5 gallons like you predicted [emoji106]. Wish I'd a hydrometer to know gravity but I'll check this next time I brew. No bottle bombs so got...

Enough about the ice, some help on the next topic would be appreciated lads/ladettes?

    Question on ice

I'm a beginner too bit why would you put ice in wort? Put ice in sink or bath instead and then put pot on ice. That'll chill it right down without touching your brew/wort

    Beginner trouble/help!!

What's your thoughts on colour and also finding out percentages? Should I just try to get drunk to test it?

    Beginner trouble/help!!

Not southern hemesphere. Scotland can get cold though. I know it's rather lazy but I the end I didn't bother getting a hydrometer and just left my brew. It was in fermentation bucket for about 17 days total. I then bottled it up (primed with dextrose sugar) and shook and left for over 2 weeks in...

    Beginner trouble/help!!

Ok fellow beer enthusiasts, any help appreciated. I'm currently hoping that my coopers English ale is fermenting. Trouble is i was so keen to get brewing again I couldn't find my hydrometer when boiling my brew which was pretty fcking annoying!! How the hell am I going to know if my beer is...

    Bottling tube

My siphon tube doesn't fit round my spigot but fits neatly on bottling tube. Can I get a tube that fits both ends?

    Hydrometre readings

Thanks man I think I'll try beer smith as its free see how that goes. In the meantime ill check this batch out. Got bottling to do for first time too but should be easy with spigot. My siphon doesn't fit round spigot though but spigots perfect size for the bottles direct. I do have a bottling...

    Hydrometre readings

I did add 4 gallons to the wort after cooling the wort from a boil. I think it was properly aerated though as I had two buckets (one has spigot) and mixed it from 1 to other and done this twice before then leaving it about 5 mins and taking reading then pitching yeast.

    Hydrometre readings

Cool I'd be happy with 3% on 1st batch if I get it. If I want 5% on the next 1 how do you recommend I do this, add more dextrose? Use a different malt extract? Add more stuff like adjunct?

    Hydrometre readings

I'm not 100% as was a gift but its a lager malt extract that I added 1 kg of dextrose to. It was about 26 degrees when we took the hydrometer reading just before we pitched the yeast

    Hydrometre readings

Hi I'm new to home brewing and just started my first 5 gallon batch on Sunday. My hydrometer reading before fermentation was 1.03. Is this good or bad? My beer looks to be fermenting well at right temperature as airlock is bubbling away :-). How do I make my brew more alcoholic? I'm aiming for...

    1st batch help please...

I'm new to homebrewing and recently got all the kit and I am doing preparation for my 1st batch soon. I have 1 kg dextrose, pre-hopped malt extract and yeast and a beginners kit. I have 40 500ml bottles - how much dextrose do I need for each bottle on bottling day? I don't have any adjunct for...
