Old Carboy Refuses to Come Clean!

If you used cleaner then all the mold is dead. When you buy used stuff you get "used" stuff. I've been to breweries that were grose but when you chem clean it should be good... just go for it! If it didn't come off during a soak or scrubbing it wont come off!

    False bottom

Whenever I do things I like to jump in head first. Why buy something now that you might end up replacing in the future, that's why God invented credit cards! I say buy a nice boil pot and use the keg as a HTL. Good false bottoms are pricey, a musician is only as good as his instrument...

is it bad i love warm flat beer?

I just love to drink a glass of brew fresh out of the fermenter. There's something about an amazingly arranged malt bill and a cleverly schemed hop bill that can truley be appriciated without the cover of carbonation. I think when beer is flat you can definitely tell the "weak from the strong"...

    How worried should I be?

The only metal I trust in fermenting beer is stainless steel, alot of times jar lids have laquer on them. As long as you washed your hands and didn't pick your nose or anything you probably did the right thing. I mean doctors stick there hands and arms in people all the time. Its actually more...

irish moss vs gelitin, whats a guy to do?

Im on my eternal struggle to make clear beer. I haven't done much reseach on moss or its affects on the overall taste of the beer. I just know its not the most effective. On the other hand gelitin works the best but strips all the flavor, but I do like bill cosby... all joking aside, is it...

What's this? Fermentation doesn't look right.

You shouldn't take the lid off so much, or not at all. If you oxidize it not even all the hops in north america will fix it. Active fermintation will last up to and sometimes longer than 48 hours. After that it just sits there. I don't like using buckets because you can't see what's going on...

the best idea for homebuilt bright tank?

Yeah im doing 10 and 15 gallon batches. I guess I don't have to worry about head space cause ill be keeping it under co2. The bigger the better, you know what I mean?

the best idea for homebuilt bright tank?

I have read about using a cornilius keg for a bright tank, but that seems so small. If I use a sanke (legally obtained of course), can I use the fermenter conversion and just shorten the racking arm? Also how do I carbonate then bottle out of the tank?!
