I'm doing my second all grain right now and I accidentally caluclated my strike water for 12 lbs of grain instead of 11. Should I do anything to make up for this or just not worry about it?
My buddy told me that if I have my grain milled for me and I'm not planning on using it right away I should store it in my freezer or it will loose some of its sugars. Is there any truth to this? I would be using it in with in three to four days.
I live in Salt Lake and just want to know what other people here do to keep there fermentation temp down in the summer. I was thinking a shallow tupperware bin with some water in it to keep my buckets cool might work. My apartement is not very well air conditioned so it still gets up to about 80...
I just switched from extract to partial mash and then to all grain. None of my beers now seem to get very good head retention since I stopped doing extract. Any advice on what I can do about this?
I just pitched more yeast to see what I end up with. I think that everything will just turn out fine. I'm just going to have to give this beer more time then I was planning on. Guess I'll just have to brew more in the meantime.
Just did my 1st all grain and got scared about my brewhouse efficiancy and added a lb of corn sugar & 10 oz of DEMto my boil. I totally shouldn't have worring because now I have an SG of 1.080. So my question is should I hurry down to my LHBS and grab another package of wyeast to pitch?
Doing my 1st all grain today with a 10.5 lb grain bill. So I am just wondering would a be correct to mash iwth 3.25 gallons of water and then do my sparge(not sure of the difference between fly and batch but I will be using a sparge arm.) with 5.5 gallons of water. I generally get about a 1.5...

1 lb brown sugar during boil
2 0z fuggles, 1oz 60 min, 1 oz 30 min
1 oz Cascade 5 min
Wyeast 1720 scottish ale
I figure 75 min mash with 13(3.25 gallons @ 153...
