    Salb29, You said you changed your sanitizer in the airlock a couple times. If your using starsan you actually don't have worry about a little starsan getting into your starter if it overflows in the air lock. The owner of Five Star said that a small amount of Starsan actually acts as a yeast...

    Brew Pal Fermentation Calendar

    Maybe this has been covered in another thread. I have looked all over HBT. I can't seem to get the fermentation calendar to work on my Brew Pal app. When I hit the ferment button after the boil it freezes up the app. Any suggestions? I am running 2.3 on an iPhone 4.

    I guess I am also still a little confused. From tank to regulator. From regulator to all three needle valves. Do I need an orifice at each burner between the valve and the burner? Or do I use one orifice after the regulator at the beginning of the manifold?

    Salmonella in beer

    Salmonella bacteria grow at temperatures between 41 and 113 degrees F. They are readily destroyed by cooking to 160 F and do not grow at refrigerator or freezer temperatures. They do survive refrigeration and freezing, however, and will begin to grow again once warmed to room temperature.

    I made this recipe about two months ago. At first it seemed like a pretty close match. The spices slowly tailed off. I plan on shooting for round two this weekend. I was thinking about adding coriander to the secondary this time.

    Stirrer Box for Starter

    You just have to play with it. I started with a 12v psu and dropped to a 9v with no success. Yet when I installed a second rheostat, left one down all the way and fined tuned the second one. I was finally able to see some results. Don't give up. You'll get it.

    Anxiety

    Just relax and enjoy it. A brew day checklist comes in very handy. I never sat down on my first batch. Now I am able to chill and enjoy the experience. A timer is a great friend also.

    Ok. I think I figured out where I went wrong. I started with 6.25 gallons. I think that is why my OG was so low.

    I was reading air temp. I know the sticky strips don't read inside temp just like in aquariums. I didn't know how much a difference there would be on the inside of the glass carboy. Now I do. Thanks. But that puts me at 1.026 currently. Going to just wait it out.
