Ok guys and gals. So here is the deal. I have an environmental shaker that I have been using as a HUGE yeast starter/shaker. You can start 12 jars or so with this beast. Variable RPM and heater built in from a cool 70-whatever temp you need.
This has become too large for my needs. I am going...
Whoops just saw the reply. Yes, a fan to keep things cool is the route i went. I have two SSR in a box and it keeps them nice and cool. Time will tell if they fail i suppose.
I haven't dabbled in the 240 volt realm but as far as the PID and SSR you're fine. The PID has a DC output that turns on the SSR relay.
Just use a heat sink.
You should be good. What size element are you putting in it? 120 volt and how many watts?
Check out this pic. It helped me greatly. Your PID might be different on the terminals but it will be maked. Let me know if you have questions.
Power cord to smoker would be to RIMS and power to...
Hello,
In the middle of a panel build on 120 volt for my mini brewery. My question lies in where to place a lighted 3 post switch for my elements.
The Pid is controlled with a rocker switch and I want a lighted rocker (3 post) for the element to turn it on aside from the PID.
Do i place it...
Can you elaborate on your "under 80 degrees" comment?
I was under the impression that oxidation is less of a concern under 80.....should i be cooling to 60 to pitch?
Hey all,
First recipe post here. This beer turned out great. Huge hoppy flavor with notes of pine and mild fruit on the front of the tongue. I missed my gravity by 10 points but i'm still dialing in my system. Supposed to hit around 1.078 so it's a bigger beer. SRM @ 13, IBU @ 96, ABV @ 8.6%...
I rarely bring the temp up to 165 to mash out nor do i stir the mash before initial draining. Is this a common practice? I definitely stir when i sparge but hadn't thought to do it for the initial draining.
As for dead space, i'm pretty sure i have about .75 gallons.
Could a few of you more experienced in efficiency chime in on how my crush looks?
Seem to be sticking around 65% on my extracting and would like to bump that figure. Starting with the crush.
I believe the gap setting is at .039 on a Barley Crusher.
Hi gals and guys,
I have 119 swing top bottles i need to get rid of. They for the most part have good seals and all the bottles are in good shape...although they'll need a rinse. A few have slight rust on the metal holders but nothing serious.
They are all a mix of 16oz and 19oz mainly german...
Hmmm, well not yet. It's just a small led that only comes on when i need to check the temp. It's not on more than 10 seconds every day. Other than that, it's in a dark closet.
I will check on the light wave length, thanks!
