    Freezer settings for fermentation

This was all just me testing to see if the controller worked before I brewed. My 1st attempt was just the probe in open air and it got way too cold. I adjusted the compressor delay and put the probe in a pitcher of water, but it was still being influenced my the ambient air temp in the freezer...

    Freezer getting too cold

It was the air temp. Water pitcher temp actually got down to 41; I think it was still being influenced by the ambient air temp in the freezer though. When I put the probe onto a can of coke and wrapped two coozies around it, it seems to be working fine, so I assume once I tape it to a...

    Freezer settings for fermentation

Had it set at 52 degrees and it was going down to 38 with the probe in open air in the freezer. Was going to 41 with the probe in a pitcher of water in there. Put two 6.5 gallon fermenters with water in there, and put the probe next to a can of coke with 2 coozies wrapped around the can and...

    Freezer settings for fermentation

I tried putting the probe down into a pitcher of water but that didn't seem to help much. Will try it with two 6.5 gallon fermenters of water in there to see if that may do it.

    Freezer getting too cold

Just got an Inkbird ITC-310 temperature cobtroller and hooked it up to my chest freezer. I have the probe in a pitcher of water inside the freezer, and have the temperature set to 50 F, and the variance set at 2 degrees F. After a couple of hours the temperasure is reading 38.5 degrees. Am...

    Temperature Controller for Fermentation Chamber

Literally just hooked up an Inkbird ITC 310T on my chest freezer. Got it for $22 on amazon by using a discount code I got in exchange for promising to review it. Haven't got the settings down yet, or figured out if I need to set a compressor delay, or any of that stuff yet...but for the 15...

    Freezer settings for fermentation

I have a 7 cu ft freezer and recently got a temperature control module for it, so now I can make lagers (yay)! The freezer has a dial on the side that goes from 1 to 7 to control the temperature of the freezer. The owners manual recommends setting it to 4 unless you needed it cooler or...

    Re-capping uncarbonated beer?

It has been about 2 weeks. Turns out I heard the pfft when I opened it, so I just drank it. :) Not quite carbonated enough, but I figure a few more days and I should be good.

    Re-capping uncarbonated beer?

If you open a bottle of home brew, and it has not carbonated yet (no pfft sound when you open), will it still carbonate if you just put a new, sanitized, cap on it and give it more time?

Filtering out Fruit Puree before bottling

I have a feeling my wife is not going to let me rearrange the stuff in our fridge to use to cold crash my carboy full of braggot. :( Could you use a big ol' plastic tub full of frozen water bottles to cold crash, and swap out the frozen bottles each day?

Filtering out Fruit Puree before bottling

I'm doing my secondary fermentation in a glass carboy. I've never cold crashed before. I am assuming it means putting your carboy in a fridge for a certain amount of time? How long? And do you have to let it warm back up before you bottle?

Filtering out Fruit Puree before bottling

Currently making a simple Raspberry and Blackberry braggot. I used 5 lb of extra light malt extract, added 5 lb of honey after flameout, and used some San Diego Superyeast. I let it ferment in primary for a month then racked to secondary and added 2 lb of Vintner's Harvest raspberry puree, and...

    Raspberry Mead/Braggot

I am attempting to make my first batch of mead/braggot and came up with the following recipe for a 5 gallon batch trying to recreate a local brewery's product: 3.3 lb can of Extra Light LME 14 oz of Extra Light DME 4 lb Clover Honey San Diego Super Yeast I boiled the extract for 50...

    Making 1st batch of mead/braggot

I am trying to recreate a local brew pub's raspberry mead/braggot and am relatively new to brewing (made one batch of witbier and one batch of a kolsch style and both turned out well) but thought I might be able to get some knowledge from some more experienced folks on this forum. I talked to...
