I followed the lead of Fall-Line and used a piece of 16 gauge wire (black) to jump the connection. However, I noticed about a 10 degree fluctuation inside the chamber. I use an Inkbird ITC-308 set to a 1 degree +- and a small space heater plugged into the heating port. The temp seems to hold...
I have this same model fridge. Looking at your first picture, you have a red 'shunt' that connects both white wire connections. It's not connected to anything else that I can see. Is this all you have to do in order to bypass the internal temp controller? Just shunt the white wires together and...
I made a 5gal solution of Star San and water and filled the fermenator with it, then drained it through both the bottling spigot and the dump valve at the bottom prior to pouring wort into it.
It's sitting at about 68 degrees right now. I pitched 2 packs of Omega Pacific NW ale yeast so ~300...
I recently got a Fermenator conical fermenter and I'm not sure if I'm using it incorrectly but the two times I've used it my beer seems off.
I brewed a Red IPA 11 days ago with an OG of 1.058. I have a blow off hose attached to the airlock at the top of the ferminator but never noticed any...
Did you add whole beans to the fermenter or coursely ground coffee?
Maybe even just cracking them with a flat blade so they're still in big chunks but opened up for more flavor?
" I also do a whirlpool when i've switched over to the iced mash tun water, it helps speed things along. "
Do you use your chiller to whirlpool (stir) your wort or are you referring to another method? I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the terms as I've only been brewing for about a year and I brew...
I use an immersion chiller and am concerned with the amount of water I waste. Also, I don't think my tap water gets very cold so I end up spending 40+ min to bring the temperature of my wort down to the mid 60Fs.
What I'm wondering is if anyone has used a pump or some device that allows me to...
It's been a few years. Has anyone come back to this recipe? I'm going to take a crack at it and will probably build the recipe based off what's already been posted here.
"The second time I bought shredded coconut from Whole Foods, but I did have some problems with a stuck siphon when I was transferring to the bottling bucket. "
I read on a different coconut thread about someone using a mesh hop bag to cover their siphon to avoid this issue. Seemed like a...
I once used coconut flakes in my secondary, 3lbs for 2.5gal beer. I think the coconut formed a cap and oxygen couldn't escape. The beer soured on me. So don't follow my mistakes, though it sounds like you're using a much safer and smaller amount.
What did you use for yeast? I have read a lot of rye recipes with American Ale yeast II. I was thinking about trying that? I also plan on dropping the crystal from this recipe and bumping up the rye .8oz
Also, i'm bottling this so as far as dry hopping goes, how many days sounds right? 7 days...
I'm curious about the process of adding flavors to secondary fermentation. I've done dry hopping which has worked out fine, but I tried to add toasted coconut and the ale soured. I toasted the coconut in the oven and then poured it straight into the fermenter. I've seen some people say to boil...
I'm inputting this recipe to Beersmith and it doesn't recognise Crystal 90L or Carastan. I'm still new to all grain brewing, do these grains have other names? I'm looking forward to brewing this beer in a couple days.
