    Critique my Citra-Orange IPA recipe

Well, the beer is done carbing and tastes good but I have to admit that you were absolutely right. Since I was wanting to use up the Fuggles, I shoudl have tossed them in with the bittering and used the Chinook there and the Citra and cascade for flavor and aroma. It was my mistake for sure...

Can someone tell me if this is an infection?

I understand perfectly that this is the right and proper way to do it. I am not pointing it out as a means to suggest that I did something wrong or that this is an improper application. I merely pointed it out because I think it accounts for the clumps and film on the top of the brew. I...

    Bottles to avoid. Proffered bottles?

I love Sierra Nevada bottles and bombers FTW.

Can someone tell me if this is an infection?

I pointed out that it might be from pouring it top because it was dry ale pitched onto the foam from aeration. Since the little clumps looked like they had sat on a cloud, I figured it might be yeast protein/fermentation by-product. I'm glad I didn't toss this although I was a little sad to...

Can someone tell me if this is an infection?

Thanks for the responses! I was about to dump it because I've never had any of the seven batches I've done this far have the floaties like that.

Can someone tell me if this is an infection?

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/beerinf.jpg/ I used dry Safale US 05 sprinkled on the top on August 11. It was kept at a steady 70F the entire time and was monitored at all times. I did notice a bit of a sulpher smell emanating from the airlock after a week but it faded and I didn't...

    Recipe Review

Like myself, you've overdone it on the crystal. I would consider running your proposed recipe through hopeville.com or beersmith.

    Critique my Citra-Orange IPA recipe

Thanks for the tip on the aroma hops! This is already made. I had to use the fuggles here so that I could spare the cascades for a brew made today. This is the recipe I went with but hopefully the fuggles will contribute something something other than pure IBUs.

    Critique my Citra-Orange IPA recipe

I just finished this, folks. I was impressed by the taste going in, even after the top off water. Big flavor and what should be good balance. Nailed the OG at 1065 on the dot. malt & fermentables flavor gradient % LB OZ Malt or Fermentable ppg °L Late 30% 3 0 American...

Check out my "Hoppy Guiness" Black IPA recipe

Yeah I just called it a black IPA but it's not. It was originally supposed to be hoppy guiness, at this point we're hoping for hoppy imperial stout due to overuse of roasted barley and black malt.

Check out my "Hoppy Guiness" Black IPA recipe

Yeah, I think you may be right but I had to let my partner do his thing. I felt it was a bit too much of a good thing on many fronts. I've formulated 4 of our recipes thus far and they have all been good but I don't want to dominate. I do hope that the fact that the sample I had was...

Check out my "Hoppy Guiness" Black IPA recipe

Made this last night with a friend. It was both of our idea to make a Black IPA but he formulated the recipe since I've been kind of dominating that arena in the first few batches that we've made. I felt he went overboard on the black malt but I didn't want to make a big deal about it. We...

homebrew taste........(where does it come from!)

I made this IPA... one of my first beers and I'm a total noob. I think it tastes great, almost like a Torpedo IPA from Sierra Nevada... and I notice zero home brew "twang" and zero off flavors. It's partial mash! It should taste a notch above a Cooper's kit, no? Should be full of twang and...

My advice would be not to get caught unless you want to go to jail or worse!
