How have you injured yourself brewing?

Not exactly brewing, but I was delivering some homebrews to people who participated in a workshop at my house, and the cooler fell off the back of my truck into the street when I exited my driveway. I didn't want to leave broken glass in the road so I hopped out to pick up what I could. Traffic...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2011?

LOL!! Just saw your post. All the weird ones (with ginger and orange and honey) are mine. And I'm discovering I am kind of a minority, a female that enjoys homebrewing and drinking it!!

    Want to brew more!?

abrdnck, do you still ferment in a regular 5 gallon fermenter? Just curious. I am lucky enough (or cursed depending how you look at it) that my husband and friends have loved what I brewed, but I'm toying with the idea of splitting the wort and pitching 2 yeasts in smaller batches to sort of...

    Discovery Cancels Brewmasters

I'm sad to see this show not get renewed. I for one loved this show, even though I only discovered it in time to see two eps. Sam's courageous style of making beer, and the fact that a brewed bottle of Dogfish Head is not only a delicious drink but often a history lesson, a geography lesson...

Northerners: Post your 2011 summer brewing schedules

Holy schedule, there, rustbucket. I think I need you to do my kids' summer camp schedule!! Our "house brew" is currently Ginger Honey, which means I do a different variation on it about every 2 months or so. The next two variations are slated to be some sort of Raspberry/Lime and then...

    Blecch

Our first batch was an Amber kit, that prehopped liquid malt. Nasty. I'll never use a prehopped kit again.

Ever feel uncomfortable besting your favorite beer with your homebrew?

I didn't exactly best my favorite beer, because I didn't really have a favorite beer. Actually I never loved beer before we started this homebrew adventure. But you bet your sweet bippy I do now! I like our homebrew far more than I've ever liked commercial beer, and I've discovered different...

Bottle guy wants to buy my beer

Wait...just so I'm clear, because I've been offered cash too... If someone, say, had chickens or knit hats or made awesome cookies or had a vegetable garden or made wine or something, and offered me said goods for six packs, that would be illegal? I of course turned them down and explained to...

    Coriander needs to be smashed

Is the coriander in already? Are you planning on racking to secondary? You could always "dry hop" the batch in the secondary with some coriander. I don't know what the effect would be, but you'll impart some coriander taste with that approach anyway.

    Your worst brewing related injury

I have thankfully never suffered a brewing injury (not yet anyway) but I may be scarred for life by eating pizza whilst reading this thread. Bad choice.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I think this is the first weekend in weeks that hasn't been spent brewing or bottling. We have no room in the booze closet! But we're going to a St. Patrick's Party tomorrow so that should free up some space (although there are a whole bunch of *shudder* Bud Light drinkers at the party).
