i think the biggest thing with a bottling bucket is convenience. You get your beer off the yeast cake. When stirrig in the priming sugar it would be difficult not to stir that up. as long as everything is sanitized properly you wont have any problems.
you didnt just pour the corn sugar in did you? you need to mix the corn sugar with a small quantity of water and boil it. That kills any nasties that would infect your beer.

i agree let it age for a couple months and see. if that doesnt do it then you could always brew another batch that is lightly hopped and then combine the two. Less full boil hops is the answer. Here is a link to a good article about hops utilization:
