    Another Brutus System is Born

Wow, beautiful looking brewery. Done exactly the way I'm planning my B10. I look forward to your specs. One question on putting the drains in the bottom of the keg. I've always wanted to do this but since they are under direct fire (especially the MT) aren't you concerned about caramelization...

Stainless Conical Fermenter from Bitter Creek Homebrew: Review ala Boerderij Kabouter

Looks like the MoreBeer conicals are coming out soon. I think I'm glad I waited. 1.5" dump valve! Just hope the price isn't too steep. http://morebeer.com/content/pressurizable_homebrew_conical?code=MBTNOV2009NL

    Lowe's Copper Coil on clearance

This was the Willoughby store on Saturday. They had 3 more coils left. All on the top shelf.

    Lowe's Copper Coil on clearance

Yeah, my preference was the 5/8" OD refrigerant line, however the $43 savings made it doable for me. I already use a counterflow chiller which works really well, I just want to see if I can bet better hop character using the whirlpool chiller. The experiment just got a little cheaper!

    Lowe's Copper Coil on clearance

I"m not sure if it's countrywide or not, but I went into my local Lowe's to check the copper tubing prices. Their website had 50' of 5/8 OD/ 1/2" ID for $75. When I got to the store, almost all of their tubing was on clearance. I found 1/2" ID Type K 60' coil for $32. Normally it's $103...

    Great Lakes Christmas Ale Recipe

Agreed the pub only beers are brewed at the pub, however I'd argue that the Christmas Ale is not one of those. They brew that on such a large scale that using the Pub brewery for that would be a waste of their bandwidth. Here's their list of Pub Exclusives

    HopDirect Lower Prices <$12/lb

Hey all, I apologize in advance if this has been posted previously, but I went onto the Puterbaugh Farms website today to buy some hops and noticed some really low pellet prices! Cascades for $8.75/lb, Amarillo, Columbus & Centennial for around $11-12/lb. Obviously they are blowing out the '08...

    Great Lakes Christmas Ale Recipe

I used to like it back when it was brewed in the original brewery. It's lost a lot of character since then. I still can't drink more than one though. Not a session beer by any means.

How many gallons of EdWort's Haus Pale Ale have been made?

You can add the 10g I made this past weekend. It's my first 10 and I modified it only slightly by using Warrior for the first hop addition. 1778.75+10= 1788.75

    48hr fermentation too fast?

Thanks all. I did keep the ferm temp around 68-70 and I'm very certain fermentation is complete. I'll rack & do a hydro reading today. I also oxygenated the beer quite a bit, knowing I was adding that much yeast. I'll post the results when it's conditioned. rsmith i usually go to Grape &...

    48hr fermentation too fast?

I recently brewed 10 gal of a 1.053 pale ale and was fortunate enough to get about 3/4 quart of yeast slurry from my local brewpub for fermentation. Obviously with that amount of yeast, fermentation started quickly and now 48 hours later it's completed. I think I recall that pitching too much...

Found some Perlick 525's on Ebay.

Do you (or anyone) know the difference between the 425ss and the 525? These are a great deal. Edited to say I found out the difference (mainly the 52x versions don't have shafts and the 425s have removable spouts): 425 faucets...
