I have two hops plants that are growing in containers in a walled in patio, they probably get about six hours of direct sun a day. I water when the top 4 to 6 inches of soil are dry, about every day or two, and I fertilize with an organic fertilizer about every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the time...
I discovered recently that my apartment windows have such strong UV blocking that the affective sunlight does not seem to be the same as having them in previous windows. Seems to make it hard to have house plants. Just a possibility.
I've heard that hops in containers can get "root bound" which can stunt their continued growth. Although the fairly uniform distribution of browning on the leaf edges would be consistent with a nutrient deficiency.
